On foot combat zone ends miserably

I did a low combat zone on foot. One enemy remained and hid. searched compound 3 times:

1. Is there some way to find them other than 3 hours of searching

2. How do a leave a mess like this instead.

Yep, that one is a suck. If there is one you can't find, the easiest thing to do is face a wall, pull out your L6 and blow yourself away. Then select retreat on the dropship. You may have to find grenades instead.

You can usually leave the battle prior to it ending. You take your bonds with you, no winner, so leave and return.

Or have a SRV parked up nearby or recall your ship then log out and back in to reset the battle.

Bug.. seen this once like Commander DYSEQTA above; the missing scav/npc was hid in a space between stacked boxes/containers and no matter what angle of fire or weapon I used they would not 'die' but they could hit me! Mission Discarded! 😭

I've not encountered this bug yet. Although I have encountered a bug where the CZ "score" does not move no matter how many I kill.

I've seen a couple where that last NPC was in a building, shooting out, but otherwise invulnerable. Not seen an underground NPC since U2 or thereabouts, but remember the fun of watching the marker moving about the surface.

As mentioned above, leave & come back, then hope it behaves itself!

The strangest one for me was a scav with invisibility cloak. Showed up on radar, could shoot me, SRV sensors showed that he's not underground. But completely invisible. Decided to try running into him and behold—the collision worked! He even punched me🤪 So I disposed of him with my Tormentor at point blank range relying on his screams to indicate whether I hit him🙂

I really need to get into this mechanic more. But couldn't bring myself to get involved with a whole new on foot engineering grind. Kind of like how it took me two years to finally start engineering my ships because I couldn't be bothered with the engineers. That, and the fact that even if I took a legal assassination mission I'd get shot at and wanted status. At least back in 2021/ 2022. Not sure if that's still a bug or not.

Buy G3 gear and start without additional engineering.

Legal assassination type missions with a silenced weapon are generally easy. One shot and walk away whistling a jaunty tune.
