On the fleet carrier models in store

If by maintenance mode they mean the canning of CGs, Interstellar Is, and Galnet until further notice to work on Odessy then yes it was announced and can probably be found in the News section.
It appears to be the usual gripe by those who dislike the game's direction.
I was already aware of the II, CG, Galnet announcements, but a game which has just received a major update and is due a massive update in Q1 2021 isn't in 'maintenance mode' as it is under active development.

a new menu screen is major update ?

Yeah the 2 other FC models should be unlockable by grinding or some in-game achievement. The paintjobs can be paid cosmetics.
Yes - happy with the state of affairs with paintjobs, but from the Beta videos that I saw I thought that the model was dictated by the purchase system (don't see why it should have any grind associated with it).

I only wish I could buy an actual carrier with a microtransaction.
I only wish I could buy an actual carrier. Period! But right now I can't without the game crashing! Why? Because Frontier didn't think this launch through very well. All of the systems with carrier vendors are completely full and cannot spawn any new carriers. As a result.... NO ONE ELSE CAN BUY ONE RIGHT NOW!!

Why aren't these people taking their carriers to cool new places? Does the dealer not include a free tank of Tritium?

A free 1/2 tank yes. I have no idea why they are being left in the purchase systems. Hence my idea for forcing an admin jump. If a player logs out and their carrier has never jumped, not once, after one hour it initiates a non cancelable jump to a random system within 100LY of its current location. At least then other players might have a shot at getting a carrier.

I would like to see Elite supported and evolved for many years to come, and that in turn means there needs to be viable business model to pay all the developers salaries and such like. The store for ship skins etc is hardly new, and many cmdrs (including me) are more than happy to support FDev in this manner, and have some fun customizing stuff in the game.
After 1200+ Hours in this game i'm more than happy to support FDev buying Arx. This game is amazing

probably because people buy them, buy services, then dont know what else to do with them so they log off

Serious question: are these alternative models actual model replacements with their own hitbox? Or are they like ship kits that simply clip through anything and the actual hitbox is that of unchanged model underneath?

So instead of making actual fleet carrier classes that was talked about earlier, all we get is one carrier, but instead you made them into microtransactions ? How is nobody complaining about this ?
Every single costumization of the carrier is locked behind f2p model microtransactions ?

Excuse me.

I complained about this, quite a lot. I'm still not happy about it, but I gave up in the end.

I'm glad the pointless Support Ships were scrapped in-place of Fleet Carrier services/loadout outfitting, the latter is much better

That's your opinion. The latter is simpler and in my opinion, cheaper. Clearly they were focused in the new DLC, as we all know. I only give them credit for the work around carrier to work in a mmo and the full persistance, for each one fc, of course, which is brilliant, but the carrier itself, I'm sorry but not.

We don't know what would have been the gameplay of the mothership of the auxiliary ships, and how were then working together, and we'll never know. But would be something new. Instead of that, what we have is a carrier with almost the same services, menu focused, as and old system station/megaship/gnosis reskinned, being the best and almost only new feature, adding a market that is maybe a first step to player economy.

Yeah I was a bit upset to find there weren't classes, outside of the designated Drake class. But I'd rather they model other capital ships anyway, outside of carriers. Like full-on Majestic/ Farragut class ships. But as I recall this was an abandoned idea and they once were going to do just that.
