On the forum rather than in the game now?

Probably, but then I've been playing ED since premium beta. I'll log in when I get the urge to fly some ships (in VR), then take a bunch of missions and log out when I find them getting dull - usually within three or four hours. Then I'm generally out for a week or two.

As to the forums, it's fun to pass some time here, hopefully helping out with questions that I know the answer to. :) Oh, and giving my opinion on things I feel strongly about... :ROFLMAO:

I'm still in the game btw, just finishing off my last mission for the day. I'll be going to grab some exploration data & probably park up at the far end of a run, to return tomorrow & sell the data.

All these people that say they want new content for motivation, but for me there aren't enough hours available to do everything I want to do already :) I probably play as much now as I ever have. I hope others find what they are looking for but I also hope the game I already enjoy isn't further disrupted in the name of 'content', and as Faded Glory says, I do feel it's important that my view is represented if someone else hasn't already done so.

I have played about 10 minutes since the disastrous last patch, fired up the game, looked at the mess and said, "nope!".

Before the patch disaster i had been playing quite a bit, fine tuning my FDL and Corvette by dueling with my squadmates.

It seems that every time i get into the game, FD either screws it up with an incompetent disaster of an update, or i run into a grindwall that forces me into the path of least resistance, playing another game.

ATM i dont even remember what my plans were for the FDL and Corvette and would be hard pressed to remember the button assignments on my hotas. I would have to relearn all that and get a grasp of the situation as i left it (not to mention the change in the political winds) before the last crap the FD dev team took, and its easier to just not play.

I do enjoy the forums tho :)

I can relate to your frustrations but whenever I'm thrown a curve-ball I just do something else (still in the game, just a different activity) for a while.

When the 2.1 update added bespoke psycho NPCs based on my rank (we still have them) I got so fed up with the constant Elite Anaconda interdictions I just left the bubble in the ship I happened to be in at the time. That turned into an 18 month grand tour of the galaxy in a fully armed & armoured multi-role Corvette.

While I was out my home system was taken over by another faction, and on returning in early 2018 I used quite a lot of my exploration data to single-handedly flip the system back against what turned out to be a powerplay group. We negotiated a peace treaty and still help each other where our goals align, and respect each other when they don't. In the past week I've flipped two systems to our mutual benefit and I'm currently working on another for them, and helped to keep yet another from being flipped by others last week. I've never pledged, I really don't like PowerPlay but I accept that others do and try to help reduce their grindy workload when I can.

I didn't plan to take a 19ly jump range Corvette to Beagle Point & back, the adventure just happened because I didn't quit, I adapted. I'd never flipped a system before, I'd never had to. But I decided 'this will not do' and rose to the challenge.

And I write about these things here in the hope that it might inspire others to find a way to enjoy the game too.

Yeah some of those were a little over the top :) Overall tho i kind of liked the more dangerous NPC's.

I did enjoy the political aspects, never flipped a system tho. At one point i thought i had a sort of grasp of the BGS but, i have forgotten which update it was, i got disabused of that notion :)

I will start playing again eventually im sure, just wish the dam thing was more consistent and stable.

THE major things you need in a game that presents a long term alternate universe and is meant to be played long term is technical stability and consistent rules and gameplay. I dont feel that FD has done a great job in that regard.

It has been for well over a year now, and looks set to continue as me and the wife just got into Destiny 2.

Love the game but somthing just isnt there for me to make me want to log in and play.

Im trying to go the other way around. I just refocused on considering elite as a barebones truck simulator like game in space, and from that context its magnificent. Everything about it. The depth is fantastic.

Its just the meta stuff thats pulling it down. Expectations of the future, frontiers current performance is closer to dovetail games rather than the shiny new blizzard of the simulation genre they were setting themselves up to becoming... until frontier actually fill the shoes they hint at is their caliber.. the gap is too big and shouldn't be filled with empty fantasy.

It feels much more enjoyable to firmly disconnect from all the false engagement and just be hooked on the game. Its a shame because the community here is so great its just frontiers poor performance is creating the conflicts and that seems the norm now.

So.. truck simulator in space was it? Yep still pretty good.

Over the last 3 months, I played 5 minutes once to get the II decal and another 90 minutes mining because I wanted to watch Slumdog Millionaire.
Other than that, the game fails to hold my interest atm.
I really want to play it, but the mission board has nothing to offer that is worth my time, exploration is just Meh, I'm triple Elite, my mats storage are almost at max capacity, and doing anything BGS is pretty much pointless. (The effects in the BGS are not enough for my taste to haul stuff and do missions, made plenty of suggestions about this already).
And No, not doing another long range trip. Been to the core twice, to Colonia twice, going once more will kill me.

It’s pretty understandable. Many of us are invested in the game but have exhausted most of what it has to offer at this point. Since the Fleet Carrier delay was announced I’ve really struggled to stay logged in. I’ve engineered an exploration Orca and a Mamba to G5 over the past 2 weeks out of sheer boredom. On the plus side, HGE rates are definitely better.
Same for me. I still follow everything closely, because once there is something to do again, I readily log in. I will also check every update coming out, I'm really happy that they focus on bugfixes now. Nothing kills my motivation to play more quickly than running into a bug after a short time in the game.

ED is now no longer a game I regularly play, but one I come back to, time after time, for a little while, before going into hiatus again. I've got other games to play :)

About 19 months ago something broke in my player 'career'. I had favorite games Like Tomb Raider series, Forza Motorsport etc. Then I started Elite, and all of the early favorites are gone. Not completely, but I still not finished Forza 7 'campaigne' which was prestige in played episodes by me. In the last few months I played few other games, but a year was only Elite. I created many goals to earn. Few months ago I earned the last one I think, but it looks like this game is don't let me go. I waited Fleet carriers to release in December to give me reason to play. I was dissapointed when FDev said it will comes in 2020 Q2. 'til then I think I will out in the dark, hunting Codex discoveries. I'm not sure about it yet, because I often had home sick on my early trips, but it would be a nice goal to find everything at least in few sectors. I love soo much this game.

Elite Dangerous? Pshaw! There are days, especially when I take it into my head to get allied with all the factions in a station, when I find myself quite happily playing this other game called Amazon Space Delivery Driver.

Just wondering if other ''Commander's'' forum lurking is outstripping their in-game time.... it is for me recently.... o_O
Yes, though ironically the less I play the game, the less active I am on the forum, because a lot of my forum time happens while my ship is in supercruise. Now that I'm playing Space Engineers instead, I don't have these long stretches of "down time" in the game to switch over to the forum. And, since getting SE, I'm more likely to be talking about SE instead of ED on this forum. I'm still here instead of a SE forum because of the people (you're my family, awwww), and I'm always seeing parallels between the two games - someday will build my beloved Type-7 and perhaps an ED orbital outpost in SE to help bridge the gap!

I've struggled to hold my interest recently.

So I went exploring because you can put it down and walk away without losing out. The last week I've been following a rabbit hole downwards, a long way down below the plane. It's been really tricky, had to use full jumponium neutron boost assist twice so far to reach the little islands of forgotten stars that are catching my eye.

Yesterday I was rewarded with my first CN Carbon Star. Never seen one before and if i can remember the way back I guess that one will have my name on it.

A bit similar here. Was organizing my gaming with Fleet Carriers coming in mind, so was doing a bit of mining with other things. Then the news hit about FCs being delayed. Ummm'd and Ahhh'd a bit, then thought screw it, and went exploring.

Well, I can't think of anyplace in-game where you can watch people spin their wheels, gaze at their navels, and blow smoke out their arxes all at the same time. So each one has something to offer.
