Please define how "Opting in means you are increasing your chances of being PvPed.", in a system where you're already a target by default.
In Open, it matters not whether you're wanted, participating in PP or not, etc. You can be engaged by another player at any time.
You really don't have a justification for this, do you? I'm sure you see the validity of my question.

Open is rewarded, you get to PvP anyone you like - that is your reward.

Flying in open makes you a target, but not for everyone. People who make a target of you make themselves a target for everyone in turn.
Recently Jason tried to waste my Cutter. He would not do it if I were not pledged to ALD at the moment.
What about doing everything else in the Open? You are right, but that is all for what Open is used at the moment. And that is not intentional.

Well, I sort of lumped you in with the "never pvp" cabal, and maybe I was wrong to do so.
I consider the many flavors of forum jujitsu employed to construe using PP rivalries as an exploit or another form of griefing to be obfuscation.

What's the point of Sandro announcing a "consensual" system in Open when it's already open season?

I've personally yet to complain about being attacked for "no reason". In fact, I've not been attacked in Open at all.
So the "people like you" generalization clearly doesn't fit the context here.
Your conclusion then, is that Sandro was attempting to "lend context" to PvP in Open, then? That there's no future intent to provide a clearly distinguished consensual PvP system, negating non-consensual PvP by default (which it is currently) then?

honestly, i was just skim reading and assumed enough familiarity between you two. i pictured it has him asking you to play. and i wasn't questioning your civility, just encouraging you to play with him.

It in not "Open season". Hunting carebears is poaching, and by doing it you make yourself a target for everyone who sees you.
Pledging to PP makes you a fair game for a large amount of people.
Open PvE can exist if your power over other's people property/ambitions is equal to risk their actions can bear to yours.
