Open only content?

Open only was in this case because the clues came from FDev controlled accounts.

Since they couldn't join any private group without blowing their cover, let alone joining you in Solo, they did it in open.

Get. Over. It.

I was about to come in here & comment on the backwards nature of this incident, regarding FD's comments on the modes.

I did not realise that the ship in question was controlled by a human. Therefore, I retract my complaints.

Thanks for clarifying this issue, Becks.

So my 2 cents on this, regarding "Open-Only" content. This content is NOT open-only, in fact what's going on here is that FD is showing us something that has been in the game for quite some time. It's already been there, and will probably still be there for some time, so you can still view the content in Solo. In fact, you can still stay in Solo looking for it while obtaining the clues from this message board.

So it's not open-only, the clues are not open-only (unless you want them in real-time and the chances of that are small due to instancing). And this is coming from a player who is firmly against open-only content.

You are wrong according to the linked post in my OP.

They couldnt have done it any other mode, tough the interessting question of the OP remains: Would you know that playing around in Group/Solo without going on the Forum or Reddit or whatever?

I highly suspect you wouldn't.

Nope you wouldn't have known .. all you would of seen is a CG asking for trillions of tons of fish for no reward ..

I get the reason behind it, I'm just very disappointed that they didn't announce it before hand.
Feels like, play your way, except when it matters, which really wasn't the game I bought.

I said it in the Canonn-Thread and I say it here: Today was the WORST playing experience EVER since Alpha.

Un-Organized, Un-Planned, badly executed, but well announced "Hunt", facing technical server-problems, pretty forseeable instancing-problems (How high was the chance to meet the FD-employees flying around? Yeah, you´re right: Almost close to zero). What is the maximum player count visible in Open? 30? 40? How many of us have participated? 1000?

Come on - this child was dead before it was born. The reason behind it was pretty clear, but it is still the worst thing FD could have done.

And: I hope this was the last time I have seen Open-Only-Content.

I it not possible that its open only because the so called npcs are being controlled by frontier themselves? The one chance to determine the future of the game's alien plot lines?

I kinda like this approach, make it more interesting. I don't think this is "open only content", more like FD using tools to make commanders to meet and work together.
