Open-Only in PP2.0?

So by this logic the specific ones you should listen to are those who PP in Solo as they stand to be disenfranchised.
I would love to hear from those who have played a significant amount of PP in solo. Thus far I don't think anybody here has- those that have played PP in solo have done only for a short time before getting disillusioned. In fact, since I don't think there really are that many that have played a lot of PP in solo, I would focus on those that have played PP in general and understand its mechanics well.

I don't understand why players go in solo or PG for normal gameplay, go figure if I can understand why someone may decide to select solo/PG for powerplay... 🤦‍♂️

There's apparently 3 powers opposed to OOPP.
Presumably there should be something by them in the threads below.
I would never claim that an entire power is opposed to or in favour of OOPP, I've known subgroups in every power that are directly opposed to the dominant group. I'm sure there are large groups that oppose OOPP, and they should be involved in this conversation, but not everyone is represented here. It's not a terrible idea to go to them and go, "hey I would appreciate if you could send a rep to give your group's official position on this question", but really that would be the job of an FDev CM.

They are the ones that didn't agree to player agreement to OOPP frequently cited in these discussions.

For a long time I used to be a solo player until one day I picked Open by mistake and thought I was hallucinating when a PP 'NPC' started talking to me :D

Ever since then Open held much more interest mainly because that general PP play is....wafer thin. Its one thing getting up at 4am to put in some last minute work, but its another waking up, logging on with a team, co-coordinating a mixed fortification / collusion swap (this was when Antal shed eight systems in a very early cycle) and then fending off others trying to mess it up.

Other times when there is a stand up fight- Antal took a system from under Dentons nose and it got heated, with teams flying all over. Or sneaking around Mahons back yard during a snipe and running off when some Kale people flew through.

There are so many little moments that other players make fun- one morning I went out to engineer some stuff and some Patty guys disliked my pirate ship and chased me off, or another where I was on a rampage and after a particular squadron :D

The whole OOPP debate is predicated on Solo/PG PP enthusiasts having a significant effect on PP.
Yet all we seem to have here is a bunch of module shoppers (myself included) and perhaps a couple of BGS enthusiasts. Actual PP PG/Soloists are conspicuous by their absence which would tend to imply they aren't significant and getting OOPP wouldn't change anything for those that are involved in it.🤷

You're saying they're not showing up in this thread and therefore they don't exist? For info, there have have been many important expansions, most conspicuously by Grom and Torval, where vast amounts of work were done but no Cmdrs were seen. In the case of Grom, they can hold a week's worth of merits and drop them 5 minutes before cycle end. So you have basically no measure of how much they've done (and thus how much you have to do to oppose), and because they can't be instanced, no way of placing those merits (which are lost on ship destruction) at risk, so they can be safely held all week, regardless of how astronomical the number of merits held. That's a huge advantage, conferred purely by being un-instanceable.

Grom had something like 4 highly profitable expansions last year, taken most if not all from space vacated by Hudson following a large 5C attack (itself launched by an army of invisible fortification haulers).

Edit - it's a really important point - you can see how the intersectionality of PP1.0's biggest flaws, dovetailing into a sequence of events, results in the most unfair outcomes.

Grom being one of the three powers that didn't join the OOPP thing and do post in this sub forum.

To be honest most 'actual' Powerplay people never come to these forums- this was set when FD were slow off the mark and Reddit took over. These days its all Discord.

I'm regarded as someone with a mental disorder / bit of an odd one being on these forums as much as I am talking about PP.

With Grom there always was the language barrier and that again, they'd never really come here.

It would change one very significant thing- anybody that does organised PP and decides to 5C another power, or wants to evade a blockade, or anyone deciding to do some botting would find it much more difficult. And yeah, that has always been a significant problem and one of the main reasons why OOPP advocates advocate for it. There are bad actors who take it WAY too seriously and are willing to do anything to get one up on their opponents.

Grom isn't EG Pilots anymore, there's Eye of Leshak and they're in ZYADA so ZYADA speaks on their behalf I think.

Of the 11 powers, we have the Winters/Hudson... ZYADA + me = 8 powers reading/posting.

The bald hippie Antal guys and the schizo-Tech LYR leadership read forum but don't post that much (+2 powers at least reading).

The one really missing is Mahon... 🤔

Powerplay 2.0 should be open only because it is the game mode that is meant to pit powers against eachother. In turn, it gets players to choose sides in a war and fight for that side. That's PvP.

It's clear that PP is a PvP game mode, and if you say it's not, you're being dishonest. I don't see how anyone can look at PP and say it's meant to be a solo or PvE game mode.

It's obviouse that it's unfair for commanders to influence a player driven war against other players without having to risk contending with the players.

It's not ganking if someone blows you up when you're pledged to an enemy power. It's fair gameplay.

Fair play? Hmm.
Do you have an aircraft carrier? How about letting others blow it up while you sleep?
