Come on, Duck. This thread is delicious.
Roadkill is delicious to the starving man. If Frontier tended to the game and forum properly, we'd all be talking about the latest Interstellar Initiative or the upcoming updates to the game. The fact that we have resorted to cannibalism is a sign of Frontier's utter failure to make the game interesting in 2020. The fact that Mooka, the whitest of knights, is badmouthing ED's current design is surely a sign of the end times.

I can't disagree, sir. I can't disagree.

Maybe the forum needs a solo mode 🤣🤣🤣

As much as I will defend open and the ganker playstyle and much as I look down on it being law abiding myself, I find some gankers give the rest an even worse name by throwing a fit and talking wild biowaste when they fail to gank you over and over.

This happened in Shinrarta the other night, I had to do some module shopping at Jameson so threw on some 8A prismatics onto my mining Cutter and off I went. Blatantly straight from star to station, threw an o7 in systems hoping and waiting, wasn't disappointed. PvP Metachief interdicts and attacks, four times low wake into super cruise, it was fun but grew stale so after time four when I low waked I emergency dropped it to sub space and waited a min then when I went back to super cruise my pursuer was far ahead and I happily dropped into Jameson.

I enjoy this type of thing but that's when it happened. Cmdr wild biowaste talking in system, I don't belong in open and I am the reason pvp is garbage in ED and how he's going to embarrass me on his YouTube channel. I'm a care bear who needs to go back into solo. I got a huge kick out of this and couldn't resist flinging salt back at him. Anyway my whole point is I made the mistake of feeding the troll and light hearted banter and taking the ish went on until it turned into a slinging salt fest that turned system chat into Barrens 2.0 😮 (I apologize to any who may have seen it). It just made me think, here's the type of people I am happy to defend their playstyle and enjoy the encounter but when they can't get their way become out of character vile and lash out. I couldn't help but think, is it really one Cmdr attacking the other that gives it such a bad name, or is it the attitude some have behind it?

I've talked with some unlawful players after incidents and combat, skilled Cmdr's some of the best piloting skills and combat knowledge around and who were happy to share, great times and fights I'm always personally appreciative of. Its the handful of sour apples that really spoil it, even for someone like me who loves it. And sad to say the past week I have been cruising around looking for trouble this type of vile attitude is even putting me off some. I get why people get up in arms about it and I understand why people don't want to be the content for such people. There's no integrity or honor to be had with such people just vile emotion that's waiting to be spewed.

open (world) pvp, like in any other mmorpg i've played, sounds good on paper but it just sucks universally. you have these scenarios in your head where you get killed, call for help and a war unfolds. or something along the lines. the reality looks quite different. you're doing your stuff. you're in your mining vessel or you come back from a long exploration trip. some dude interdicts you, shoots you down without any problem whatsoever, because you don't fly a combat vessel, and that's it. no challenge, no fun, no reward. just some frustration and maybe a lot of lost money. you log back in, likely in solo or in a private group and that's it. you do like to play open though but not because of pvp.

so, i would actually like it if there's two open games. one for pvp and one for pve. i know what you think. you're a tiny fraction of a minority already. now you take away those that only want to pve to begin with. only those who do want to pvp are left. but wouldn't it actually make sense to pvp with those that actually want to pvp?

i mean, the harsh reality is that i don't want to do pvp. especially not when i'm in a ship that's not even suited for combat which happens the majority of the time. i do like the idea of playing open. but only because there are other players there i can interact with, cooperate with perhaps. when i do get into a situation i don't want to get into, i avoid getting into that situation by playing on moebius or in solo. i would prefer open, because there are more players there. but i would also like to opt-out of pvp in open. but since that's not possible, i tend to avoid open. one less player to gank, but also one less player in the entire pool.

Players make Facebook and Twitter what it is - for better or worse, yet governments are looking to force the companies to shoulder some of the responsibility for the toxic cesspool these places can become. In other words, Frontier is at least partly to blame for Open being what it is.

I won't block it goes against what I am about even when I am tempted, but I would appreciate a /mute.
