open (world) pvp, like in any other mmorpg i've played, sounds good on paper but it just sucks universally. you have these scenarios in your head where you get killed, call for help and a war unfolds. or something along the lines. the reality looks quite different. you're doing your stuff. you're in your mining vessel or you come back from a long exploration trip. some dude interdicts you, shoots you down without any problem whatsoever, because you don't fly a combat vessel, and that's it. no challenge, no fun, no reward. just some frustration and maybe a lot of lost money. you log back in, likely in solo or in a private group and that's it. you do like to play open though but not because of pvp.
so, i would actually like it if there's two open games. one for pvp and one for pve. i know what you think. you're a tiny fraction of a minority already. now you take away those that only want to pve to begin with. only those who do want to pvp are left. but wouldn't it actually make sense to pvp with those that actually want to pvp?
i mean, the harsh reality is that i don't want to do pvp. especially not when i'm in a ship that's not even suited for combat which happens the majority of the time. i do like the idea of playing open. but only because there are other players there i can interact with, cooperate with perhaps. when i do get into a situation i don't want to get into, i avoid getting into that situation by playing on moebius or in solo. i would prefer open, because there are more players there. but i would also like to opt-out of pvp in open. but since that's not possible, i tend to avoid open. one less player to gank, but also one less player in the entire pool.
