Can you give an example of how people "suffer" in a video game?
Yeah, although not related to this topic. Haven't you seen all the threads about how FD are slapping people in their faces by literally forcing them to grind?

I replayed alien colonial marines.
Me too a couple of months back, just to see if it was as bad as I remember.
They mostly uninstall at night, mostly...
Game over man....game over.
Yesterday I gave a lesson to one of this PvP trolls...
He interdicted and attacked me directly, without hesitation, without a reason (I wasn't wanted) and with zero interaction...
I guess he was looking to find another trade-Cutter, unable to self-defend against a proficient PvP commander with a war ship (in this case, a FDL), but he found a well prepared commander with an armed tank instead...
I hate griefers since my trading days back in my T6 and T7. I've been destroyed without reason more than once, but that gave me the ultimate goal of building a good combat PvP ship and be able to defend myself against any attack...
We can't change the fact that this trolls exist and that they love destroying things on sight, but we can prepare ourselves to face them, and give them some of they're own medicine...

Being forced into the indignity of Trading and/or Exploring and/or Combat (IE Playing Elite) before they get what they should have had from the start (Corvette/Cutter/Anaconda) ???
It's not quite as bad as that, and nowhere near as bad as some people who will inevitably arrive in this thread soon will make out.
If you're in open around player hotspots, ie. Founder's World or Community Goals, then there's plenty of people who like nothing more than popping open the guts of a new player's ship. If you're going to be in open around those areas, you absolutely 100% have to be prepared. Follow Vin's advice, the vast majority of PvP players are more than willing to help
someone out.
As for the rest of the game, you can play in open away from hotspots and not see a single soul for days. And even then if you do, the most danger you'll encounter is a friendly 'hello' in local chat.
Actually, no - I would prefer people behave appropriately, if they can not then they should be forced to mend their ways or be banned permanently. That is not about wanting people to suffer, that is about appropriate justice.
Wanting people to suffer is a sociopathic trait - not a normal trait of players in general.
Not just me - the EULA/TOS prohibit certain patterns of behaviour that could be interpreted as harassment regardless of the means used. Whether a given complaint is reported is down to the target(s). Whether the given complaint is considered valid is down to FD.What it sounds like you are saying when you say "behave appropriately" is that people should behave as you want them to behave. Not a big deal really. It's a common human affliction - right wing - left wing - republicans, democrats and socialists. All suffer the same disease. Major source of all human conflict. This thread is a perfect example.

If more people used common sense and stuck to the spirit of the EULA/TOS then there would not be any issues IMO. That does not mean PvP would not be a "thing" either.
If FD actually enforced the EULA/TOS I'd probably bow and say - Touche'.
They don't so I won't.
Nice try though.

To be absolutely clear PvP in no way is causing any real suffering to anyone. If anybody says differently they are way over exaggerating the effects video games can have on a person's real life.
It is a game. Plain and simple just a game. And if anyone takes getting killed in a game as upsetting their mental and emotional stability then they should really go get their head checked out professionally.
Armchair psychologyWhat are you a Doctor of, exactly?
