Because this came up yet again while building earlier and I already had it typed up I thought I'd copy-paste it here, too, since well, it didn't really get any better at all and this pretty much summs up all the problems I have with the path tool...
While you can do some good stuff with it, it still takes ages to finally get it to do what you actually want and I've dealt with it since Planet Coaster Alpha and have spent around 600h in these games.
The paths can't cross each other or merge wherever you want them to, which lots of times leads to weird snapping positions or "malformed paths" that can't be altered no matter what you do.
Also don't even get me started on the whole "obstructed" issue...maybe you can lay down the first path just fine but as soon as you build some stuff around it like habitats or anything to do with water it becomes a nightmare to edit and add on to. The tool is like: "Oh you wanna edit this side of the path here that's on the opposite side of the habitat? Nah don't think so, go delete half your zoo first, maybe then I'll allow it."
That also happens if all you wanna do is change the path type of an existing path, like the path is literally already there and it won't let you change the color because it's "obstructed".
And if it isn't the habitat fence, already existing path, building or water, it's the already perfectly flat terrain that somehow doesn't want a path on it even though there's nothing there and all path options are set correctly.
Btw, ever tried to add the path work to a slightly more complex blueprint?(Yeah, they still can't save paths) It's down right impossible most of the time and if you somehow manage it after who knows how long you probably ended up deleting several parts of the original print and it looks nothing like it should have.
Another problem is the way the paths somehow merge into large section when you add something to them (like a shop) and once you delete that part suddenly half your carfully layed out pathing is gone and you can't rebuild it the way it was because the game won't let you, no matter how hard or how many times you try.
Elevated paths are still a pain as well, granted the added section length option made it a little easier to deal with but still not great.
So yeah, I love the game I really do, but the paths are driving me crazy at best and make me rage quit at worst, and I really hope for a bigger path tool update in the future.
