Orbit Lines shader fix for AMD 6000 graphic cards

13-05-2023 update : version 0.3 correct orbit lines parts that were not drawn in front of textured planets.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,

I made a shader fix for the dashed orbit lines on AMD RX 6000 graphic cards (also fix exclusion lines, gravity lines etc ...)
I can confirm it works on my rx 6800 and many other players already :)
If you want, i can post some explanations on the fix itself.

Step 1 : 3Dmigoto Install

  1. Download 3Dmigoto (1.3.16 is the last version) : https://github.com/bo3b/3Dmigoto/releases/download/1.3.16/3Dmigoto-1.3.16.zip
  2. Unzip the file
  3. Copy the following files from the x64 folder, to your Elite folder :
    Standalone: [Elite install folder]\Products\elite-dangerous-odyssey-64\
    Steam: [steam install folder]\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-odyssey-64)
    • d3d11.dll
    • d3dcompiler_46.dll
    • nvapi64.dll
    • uninstall.bat (this one is optional but it allows you to remove 3Dmigoto easily)

Step 2 : Orbit Lines Fix Install

  1. Uncompress the zip file (in attachment) in the same Elite folder as before. You should have :
    • A new file "d3dx.ini"
    • A folder called "shaderfixes" (with a text file inside it, that's the fixed shader itself).

Is Frontier Ok with this ?
3Dmigoto is used by a lot of mods, including some Elite mods like EDHM from GeorjCostanza and the "Amazingly Realistic Immersion Mod" from Old Duck
From what i saw in EDHM's post, Cmdr Exigeous asked FDEV about EDHM usage (which uses 3Dmigoto) and the response was :
"FDev are fine with the mod so long as it doesn't provide an advantage over other players, or mod their ARX-related assets"

Didn't work for me I'm afraid. Orbit lines are a little better then before, but still not as good as I had with my old Nvidia1080 (I wish I'd never replaced it), but now I've got this unwanted green text on the screen.

Did you copy all the files from the "EDO Orbit Lines Fix.zip" file in attachment ?

And only copy the following files from the 3Dmigoto zip (in its x64 folder):
  • d3d11.dll
  • d3dcompiler_46.dll
  • nvapi64.dll
  • uninstall.bat (this one is optional but it allows you to remove 3Dmigoto easily)
It seems you use the D3DX.ini from the 3Dmigoto zip file (and not mine).

I expected something like this would happen. I finally gave up and replaced my 6900 with a 3080. Three months later, a fix is released LOL

I'll try this on my HTPC this weekend (6650). Thanks for your efforts :)

I bought my used RX 6800 a few months ago. But i got back into elite only a few days ago.
That bug was so annoying, i gave up and spent a few hours on it !

Thanks. Nice Mod, but the orbital lines are just a little part of the problem. All 3D model edges still flickering (because of lack of AA?!)
It's not the same problem.
This only fixes a problem in the shader used to draw orbital/exclusion/gravity lines.
Which strangely doesn't affect Nvidia cards.

Ok this works surprisingly well! I have a 6600xt, 22.5.1 driver

/ it not only fixes the orbit lines in sc or the gravitiy well but also all lines in the fss. They are suddenly back, I can see the orbits of moons, which wasnt the case before. Also it seems that the blue line for orbital cruise is sharper, the yellow ones around non-landables as well. Its now way easier for the eye than before.
