I'll just drop this here b/c, why not? ;)

SJA got the box I sent her, too. Operation "influence peddling" is off to a good start!

This Week's Reader's Digest, The Kerenn's Report (as Colbert wasn't available to do this one... Surly, could you send him a mug from me ?)

  • First of all, Community Manager Brett C started a weekly "Let's Talk". This week : Group Punitive Actions. Rat Representative Kerenn rejoices and gloats as Rats have never punished one of their own because there never was a need to. You're THAT awesome.
  • There was mention of some kind of web-based roster and management tools. Hot Damn !
  • Again we talked about how to implement ranks within groups and management issues : invite to group, group leader, group officers, kicking/muting/banning from group... If you've played a MMO, most propositions looked like the WoW Guild/Clan system.
  • Did I mention a French Group Leader asking for web designers and community managers kits with Assets we could use to build things ?
  • Mobius made a "Triple Elite Group" thing.
  • Did I mention the Wishlist ? The First Great Expedition asked for a way to put multiple accounts per email adress.
  • More and more Groups are seeing their description and minor factions pop up in-game. Seems they're installing them wave by wave.
  • We asked for an alphabetical sorting of the friendlist, and a way to classify friends however you like, maybe have the option to group them (those are Fuel Rats, these are bounty hunters I sometime wing up with, those are Combat Zoners, these guys trade massive bulks...)
  • There briefly was a "Best Elite Song that wasn't Hotel Dalgarno, but I corrected it immediately. Thanks again to the Imperial Inquisition for such a sweet song !
  • Communists joined the fray !
  • It seems groups who backed a minor faction saw an increase in ships available in shipyards... Might be worth checking out !

Pictures ! (Thanks to CMDR Minudra from the EDCF)

Hello everyone, this is your commander Kerenn speaking.
Please accomodate some room for our newly joined friends, who happened to run out of fuel somewhere in the vastness of space. Here, let me introduce you !

First is a friendly guy from ALRAI SECTOR OI-K A8-2.
CMDRs Domaq and Cpt_Shinobi were both on site when I arrived, some way away from the main star. As I start getting out of its gravity well I get pulled down to conventional space. Before I knew it I had fired a limpet and it had found its way to the right ship. I think he might have been a wee little bit impressed with two anacondas dropping in on him at roughly the same time so I put a new change of clothes on the limpet I sent him. Soon after he was safe some ping came from my console and as I was ready to High Wake shinobi tells me "since you got first limpet in make sure he can get to a station".
Oh, right. Left panel, navigation tab, "exceeds wing" nowhere to be seen... I think he's good. Oh yeah, he can get to ASINDA.

Second is a fine gentleman we picked up in ALRAI SECTOR LC-V B2-4.
As I followed Domaq's High wake with Shinobi on my tail we get into position and then into wing. I see Domaq doing weird maneuvers and it seems he was following the guy although my supercruise scanners did not pick anything. I make a quick prayer to the Instancing Gods and start following Domaq. He sees me doing so and makes a U-Turn when suddenly we're both dropped to conventional space at the same time.
I watch helplessly as we both tumble away from our target, 1.3km away. I manage to put him in my sights and fire a limpet as soon as the "out of range" label goes away. I see my Limpet going for an undercut while Domaq's comes as a hook.
As you can see on the picture below, my Limpet was BEST LIMPET. You can also see he's hugging the inside of the ship's shield while Domaq's Limpet is only drifting on the edge of the sun. Domaq confirmed what I knew when I saw "fuel transfer complete". I believe he had a "fuel transfer failed" on his end.

Beaten twice means the conda now carries a 3A fuel transfer for 1550m transfer range. I may not be able to turn around inside a Coriolis station but my limpet will get there first next time!!

Did I mention nabbing a Rescue from Arrakaij's hand right now ?
A guy comes on IRC and I get the sense he needs fuel (I get that everytime someone joins #FuelRats, but still, I have Fuel Senses now !). I log in on the launcher. Arrakaij says "4 jumps". WHO NEEDS SHADERS PRELOADING ! I hit boost and leave 45% of mu hull in the mailslot for later. FSD Charging.
"In system" says Arrakaij. Damn, I'm backup.
Suddenly everything goes "unknown" and we are all logged out to main menu. I re-enter game and make the last jump. I see the beacon close to the sun, ask the client to get to supercruise. I navLock, drop on him, refuel him. "SAFE" I yell.
I feel a slight pinch as Arrakaij did all the work but he did not get the Limpet in. Bah, these are the rules of the RAT RACE !
I present my trophy to you with our distinctive burn marks (horizontal is me, vertical is Arrakaij) :

It happened in ALRAI SECTOR JB-0 A6-1.

EDIT for Domaq : Look at our Limpets Trajectory ! I need to learn Twitch streaming to get that in video format.

Howdy rats,

another one from me. There's now an automatic system search bot in our irc - I don't want to go into details on that, just come into #ratchat and ask - and I need your help to make it better. The bot uses the EDSM (http://www.edsm.net/) API to find system coordinates. EDSM has coordinates for 40000 systems, but we regularly get clients in who are in a system EDSM doesn't have coordinates for. So if you're an explorer, please check out EDSM / EDDiscovery (a client utility for explorers with EDSM integration) and consider helping with the effort to map out the galaxy!

Very soon the bot is going to get the capability to do fuzzy search to handle typos in system names, which is going to make it very useful even when 1.4 is released with the fixed system search.

See you on the main frequency,
DukeOfEarl

PS: I've also started my rat science project: If there's anything you come across during ratting that is weird or that you don't understand, tell me and I'll go research it (a fancy term for "ask Radlock and Cpt_Shinobi about it") and put it into the rat science article!

Just had a quick play with the search facility ... that is DAMN impressive my friend, have some rep.

Edit: did not find the rep you queried :-(

Second is ALRAI SECTOR HW-W B1-6.
You might remember that place. Near Ngolibardu, I've saved people there thrice or fource. It's our #1 source of income according to statistics.
I went there as backup because a new rat couldn't establish connection to the stranded and ended up claiming that shizzle fo' meself !

Ok to all of you that have ordered a Mice of Mischief cap the order has been placed. It will take approx. 10-15 working days to get them to me, after that of course I will need to post them out to you. I will let you know when this happens.

If any one else would like to order any other merchandise let me know. The logo is now in my account so further orders can be placed without set up costs.

Fuel Rat Report
25.09.3301

Been out of the ratting game for a while.

First I went looking for Emperor's Dawn cells near the Cemiess system, got a tad distracted and ended up orbiting the Maia Black Hole. No Emperor's Dawn cells out there I'm pleased to announce.

Then I ran into some old fella called Bump Barnum in a space-bar out in the Toolfa system and before you know it I'm helping him organise a race for the Buckyball Racing Club.

Anyway, this morning I look in on the rats while I'm handing in my findings in Cemiess and I end up running some casual dispatch for Ceska Zbrojovka. Then at lunch time, just as I'm heading back to Toolfa with a fresh delivery of candy-floss, I get a call from Cmdr Nist whose out of fuel in Alrai Sector WH-A T3-V3R. I figure it's a good opportunity to put my new Imperial Courier through its paces and 15mins later Cmdr Nist is on his way and I'm soaking up the rays.
