Overloads during maneuvers

You want to force certain ships to to haul cargo/passengers by limiting their ability to to other things.
Incorrect. I don't want to force ships into roles... but I do want to incentivise their use and make it so the new hotness doesn't just replace the old reliables.

Adding planetary approach suite didn't limit the abilities of ships, it added to what they could do. I'm not saying replace slots on miners with mining-only things. I'm saying give mining ships a free size-5 slot that can only accept a refinery or limpet controller or cargo. Or something like that.

Alternatively, we could 'SLF Capability' this, so every ship with a Miner flag can equip miner-only miner-thing. Just like limiting SLFs to SLF-only ships is not limiting those ships from doing [other thing].

(This is not a great example because we domt want to limit mining to only mining ships, just a generic example of how the mechanic already exists and can be adapted.) See also: Enhanced Perfomance Thrusters.
I want ships to not be imortal.
This is fair. Would that I could stick an SLF hangar into the Military slot of a Cutter.

Anyway, back to OP's original point, we need the potential to spin out like a Mario Kart hit a banana peel.
