Pack Hounds

Get my Pack Hounds tomorrow, never had a missile ever so clueless what to do with the Targeting! Modules or Hull? and advice on best engineer mod and special would be most grateful thanks Cmdrs

External modules like hardpoints and thrusters are vulnerable. Combine with module sniping and you should have a very effective loadout. Havent used modified launchers however....

as for mods... either ammo increase (for pve extended combat - cz/res), or rate of fire increase (for mission running).

soecials: emissive and drag munition, overload if you want to attack shhields with them, too.

Go with lightweight or increased ammo. Rapid fire will generate too much heat. Thermal/drag munitions are my personal favorites. Use them to target subsystems such as drives.

I've got mine set up with Overload to help with shields when needed, but I will be switching over to Drag on at least one of them.

Target hardpoints as soon as shields go down and on most ships you can effectively destroy every weapon in just 2 full salvos, since the hardpoints are typically bunched together near each other the splash damage hits multiple weapons at a time.

Pack hounds are amazing.

I modded mine with extra ammo, and extra shield damage. Really useful for pirating actually as you can take out thrusters fairly quickly without killing the target.

Quick answer: Depends.

Elaboration:
Packhounds have dmg penalty against medium and large ships,
against those you snipe external modules, as this weapon cannot breach
and dmg internal modules. Drives are a prime example.

Against small nimble ships and SLF just target them and blast their hull to dust,
unless you want to pirate them, then it is thrusters again.

Specials:
Drag ammo!!!!!! Slow down a ship to 0 pips to ENG, not much more to add,
a glorious mod.
If you like to counter silent running, try to use emissive munitions,
if you have missiles as a primary weapon and no shield killer,
try the overload munitions (ammo penalty removed).

Engineering:
On smaller ships where power and weight is important i prefer lightweight,
as it reduces weight and power drain.
On larger craft, like the FGS i prefer the magazine extended mods (double mass, *1,3 power drain!!!).
So basically bring some flowers to Liz Ryder,
and bond with her if you want packhounds to be better:D

Thanks everyone for a terrific response to my question. (Especially Julio) I shall be using all this info to conjure up my Packs tonight.

o7 to all who contributed and GunnerBill watch out for your Vette.... :D
