Park graphics downgrade when park grows larger?

Has anyone notice that as you add more items and bushes/trees etc etc some of the textures start to get worse and worse, My park isn't small anymore, A lot of stuff in there and I noticed the vendor graphics...

I then loaded up a empty map and checked again....

Spot the difference?

Yea thats interesting, probably will get better with the final build or maybe it has to be that way... could have to do with your PC maybe?

I don't think its to do with my computer...

980TI watercooled
Intel I7-4790K @ 4.7ghz
16GB of DDR3 ram
Windows 10 :V

same here, i think the graphics memory got full and started to use lower resolutions. hope that they will improve on that. So that objects close to the camera always have best resolution.
(BTW same specs, except for 980TI (bought the 980 when there was no TI, yet [haha]) and oh you clocked the cpu to 4.70 [woah], i stopped at 4.30 for no reason).

So it's not just me? Thats fine them I guess it just adjusts based on how many objects/load on GPU etc... But if we are already maxing out a 980/980TI... wait till they add more stuff [squeeeeee]

Raise it as a bug. Looks like it hasn't streamed in the higher quality textures for some reason.

I honestly don't think it's a bug but rather a feature. Am already watching my FPS slowly drop over time, Can only get worse :p

Getting the same issue with large parks. VRAM usage is at 2.8GB out of 4GB total so it's not running out of VRAM that's the problem. I think it's an issue with the LOD system failing to load in the correct textures when zooming in on certain objects! You might notice it on coaster tracks and signage also.

Yes, it's a feature, in that the game will use low-resolution textures when zoomed out. But it's a bug in that it should use high-resolution ones when zoomed in. It doesn't matter how big the park is; if you're zoomed in to that level it shouldn't be maintaining resources for graphical elements in other parts of the park, and if it is and that's causing the game to be unable to stream in the higher-resolution textures it again points to this being a bug. It may well be a known issue with larger parks and it'll get fixed in future updates, but then again it might not be something they've seen before and a bug report will make them aware of it.

Sent a report anyway

ew, really hope thats not standard, that looks awful.

To me that looks like the LOD model didn't get updated when you zoomed in (LOD = level of detail. They are so when you are far away from objects they take up significantly less horsepower.

i have noticed the same thing and i have almost the exact same pc build, as the park get's bigger, the texture's get more blurry, you can try and make some changes to your nvidia control panel. It's obvious your fps are going to take a pounding the larger your park get's.

Check your GPU memory usage when this occurs, shouldn't be filled, but maybe it magically is. Are you running from an HDD or SSD? I use an SSD and get bad textures for a few seconds while it all loads to the GPU, so its possible your system is "thrashing" in some form and not loading the HQ textures fast enough, or dropping them entirely because its taking too long or something.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for bugging this - we're always improving the way our streaming system works. Right now it prioritises detailed textures for things with higher object counts, so building lots more shops makes it more likely to load higher resolution textures for them!

For this kind of game where there are tens of thousands of "things" to consider for what is up close, the calculations and processing power required to determine camera proximity are harder than you might think. As development continues, we'll be attempting to assign better priorities to things - we have some ideas about how to do this better. But do report these cases and we'll double check to make sure that's the reason.

Cheers

Andy

Just posted my DXDIAG as requested on my alpha thread, Hopefully helps anyway, Thank you Andy :>

I also noticed the CPU capping at 100%, Being a 4790k overclocked at 4.7ghz and watercooled to sit at a temp of about 50c... That might be the cause :D
