patch 1.1 : no change to mining ?

I paid for a modern version of Elite, I got a modern version of Elite. I've got no idea what you're on about.

Therein lies the problem. The world has moved on since 1984 and you can't just trade on misty eyed nostalgia. Right now exploration seems to be getting the attention and it feels like the remaining core gameplay is playing a back seat to David's dream of a galactic simulator. It's history repeating, the sequels were buggy as hell. Frontier has the right to stick to its roots but it doesn't need to be rooted in the past.

Frontier has the right to do whatever they feel like with their game.
If you are not fond of it, you are welcome to play other games that suit your needs.

David Braben took my faith and my money. He gave me 3 magic beans.
I planted them with heady expectation but they grew weeds.

I'm quite happy. I suspect deep down you are too - because you've probably been playing Elite:Dangerous for 2 months or so.

You'd be daft to keep playing a game that was crap, and that you hated for two whole months, wouldn't you?

Well then maybe when they stop advertising their game as if it was our game we wouldn't have such a problem when they make stupid production decisions that inflict people with a hideous sense of buyer's remorse just hearing about them.
We were suckered in with a space sandbox for the 21st century made by people who basically invented the space sandbox. Are we supposed to be the a-holes when we pay in only to find out there's no sand? Come on, man, don't defend or tolerate anti-consumer practices from companies of any kind.

I love mining, but currently it's broken and weird. I did my fair share of mining 3M credits but traded a lot more.

Diablo 3 was ok when there was AH that ruined game where everyone rushed to their daily gold farm. With ROS they closed down AH made gold drops insanely high so you always have 100x more gold than you need and did it break game? Nope, you just don't worry about it and have fun doing whatever you want.
For me D3 10 year grind plan gameplay was much worse than current ROS gameplay where you get 90% of stuff in few weeks with easy going style and enjoy worry free game.

The blinkered attitude astounds me on this forum. It's not their game at all, it's their vision but people have invested a financial stake in the development and direction of Elite Dangerous. This is a shared IP if anything now. I don't need to play anything else thank you, I'd like Frontier to deliver what they apparently claim this game is.

Why am I not allowed to defend a game that I enjoy?

Please, point to me where there are anti-consumer practices going on here?

There are plenty of games that I have bought that turned out that I didn't like. You know what I did? Moved on with my life and played something I enjoy.
If you don't enjoy the game, fine. It's not everyone's cup to tea, but why stick around on the forums to bash the game and the developers? and try to force your agenda on people who are enjoying the experience?

Perhaps, you should have done more research into the game before buying it? I wish I had with a number of games in the past.
My last game that I regretted buying was Watchdogs. It was advertised as a game that would change the world, and bring something new to the industry.
All it was, was a glorified GTA, with push X to hack.
But I didn't go on their forums for weeks/ months to bash everyone who liked the game.
I just uninstalled it and moved on. Perhaps people here should take the same approach.

It's not their game at all.

I'm staggered by this statement.
Of course it's their game. You are paying to play their game.
If you don't like it... move on.

A lot of us here do like the game. It shouldn't be completely changed just because a minority amount of people don't like it.
It's FD's game, it's their decision what to do with their game.

Some of the comments in here are quite funny "RAWR i paid this and I wanted that! Elite Dangerous is stuck in the past and I didnt pay to play the old elite....RAGE RAGE RAGE"

I think what alot of these people really want is "grand theft space auto:Modern warfare edition" instead of a space trading simulation thats constantly evolving and adding new content. If those who dont like the way the game is progressing feel this bad....dont play! We have all bought games that didnt live up to our expectations so deal with it

Mining is still a big issue I agree. But I think having a Live market for trading is in No way breaking the game.
Supplies are meant to fluctuate, thats the whole point of a Live simulation.

Up to this point the trading simulation has been static, stock levels and prices never changed. You could just rinse repeat the same runs over and over.

At least now ppeople will be encouraged to move around the game environment more, and actually look for trades.

I think this is an improvement, not a nerf.

Where the hell do you keep getting this idea that any of us don't like the game? Would we be here tearing our hair out trying to get FD to fix it and make it what it's supposed to be if it was just another game on the pile for me to not care about?
We like this game so much that we are deeply invested in its future, in its potential, and it's heartbreaking to see frontier squander it, and a bit of a kick when you're down 60 quid from it too.
You ask what anticonsumer practices I speak of?
Quickly slapping placeholder features into a beta build and pushing it for a christmas release.
Announcing paid expansions instead of a timeframe for when expected launch features will actually be added.
Consistently ignoring any questions from the playerbase that would get a stern look from the PR rep if a dev answered them candidly.
Beta tests being a glorified toybox to keep the backers happy. Have to keep the whales around, after all, they're paying for the servers.

But you could look aside all of that, as I am willing to with the following explanation: They have no idea what they're doing, and probably thought a space game wouldn't be very difficult to develop. Looking at frontier's product history now, they spent the last decade making tycoon and mobile games. Haven't touched a space game since 1995. I'm starting to wonder why we ever thought they'd be able to come out of nowhere riding a wave of nostalgia to dazzle us all with the best space sandbox ever.
Oh yeah, all the ing hype during the kickstarter campaign, that was probably it.

Says you. Braben and us disagree.

I can understand the OP's point, like it or not mining is actually a role currently but its so badly implemented it needs something to help it out, I would have thought this was a very high priority to at least make it bearable as I know some people genuinely love space mining.
