PvP Patch Notes: Did 'Griefers' Get Removed?

Easiest Fix for Griefers.
Dont Play Open.

Let Griefers Play in Open Alone and Grief each other.

As long as Frontier is unable to get a proper and working Crime and Punishment System that puts out Bounties that cant just be Parked Somewhere and that actually Reflect the Damage and Cost the Criminal has caused to someone else. Open will Remain a Griefer Heaven where Griefers will do as they Please.

So until that. The only Option you have is to make it clear to Frontier that Open to Griefers means Closed to everyone else.
Not doing that tells Frontier that you Bark but dont Bite and thus will Cry about Griefers but not really do anything about it so they can leave the Issue alone.
If you don't play in open then how will we ever be able to meet up and be fwiends?

Last night a buddy and I flew over to Farseer, landed on the moon there, and rode around in our SRVs for the first time.
We mined the phosphorous and sulfur we required to buy FSD/Engine upgrades.
Turns out some sentinels were there so I recalled my ship, blasted them, and then we raided the nest and recovered gold, platinum, and so forth.

We did this in a private group and lol'd all the way to the bank.
If you'd like to join us some weeknights (6:00 - 7:00EST) in my private group feel free to ask.

One day we'll patrol open space but for the time being I don't miss it.
We simply don't have the ships that could withstand an attack (skills aside).
I know my current place in this game - in group play.

That said, I don't think of PKs as griefers in any meaningful sense of the word.
I don't think that is fair.
Two questions Wargfoot, what platform do you play on and how much money do you have in game?

Man! You waste too much time on forum. Close Your browser and play the game.
Unfortunately, I spent the first three weeks struggling to get TARGET to work.
I gave up after losing settings, frustrating bugs, and pure grief.

Now I'm learning how to fly with FA OFF and that is gonna take months.
To be honest, FA OFF is the most interesting part of the game to me.

I'm in no hurry because I've yet to play one of these games without ending up with more money than I could ever use.
When I do make it to open there will be tons of PKs to school.
They can wait like the slobbering dogs that they are.

I'm intentionally savoring this game - I think it is worth taking slow.
It's all good.

PC, 13 million credits - still very much a noob.
I'm trying to find a night my buddy doesn't play so I can do FA OFF drills.
Damn, I was really hoping I could gank you, then help you with money, mats, engineers and training. Maybe its finally time to build that PC I've been talking about building for years so I can come be a ruiner of fun for all you fine master race people.

I know 13 million doesn't sound like much money but it is a hell of a lot of money for occasionally painting the side of a pirate ship with an OEM beam laser while bouncing off asteroids. How can you be poor in this game?

@mant3z

i have different opinion here

ganker -> attacks players with obvious superior fighting power. this can relate to pilot strength, ship strength or the number of ships. the attacked player is pvper and is looking for a confrontation with other players.

griefer -> the intentional and wilful attack and destruction of ships that are inferior to chance AND that do NOT seek the way players play against players. griefer force their way of playing towards them or destroy with their "game" the gaming fun of the others.

Nice to see some discreet definition of terms for a change. How do you define the player that attacks gankers/griefers? There are some low skilled griefers out there that consider me a ganker by your definition.

I guess pretending to NOT have a PC is a nice way to avoid getting owned by the Wargfoot! (1)

I got griefed by a high-G planet once. Planets are still in the game, so... probably not.
Otherwise, tbh I get more grief in the forum than in game, but since we have to be nice to moderators, I'm not allowed to talk about it.

Ummm, I think you're on point with your ganker definition but your griefer definition is pretty much the same.

I define griefers as players that continuously hound the same player over and over again, constantly following them and killing them over and over again but since it's pretty easy to block a player and avoid them I'm not really sure that actual griefing even exists in ED.

I call myself a ganker but in reality I go after everyone regardless of how tough or easy I think they might be which is really just a PKer.

Carebears like to give us names and put a label on what we do but in reality we're just pvpers playing as bad guys. I'll gank you and then 10 seconds later help you mine for money or show you a sweet grind spot if you ask me nicely and I know that the vast majority of "bad guy" pvpers will do the same.

I attacked a pirate ship the other night (it was already busy with another foe) and fought it for 10 minutes.
My buddy just watched - he didn't want to jump in until the shields went down - he said I was on my own because he was tired of me getting him killed.
The shields went down, he watched for another couple of minutes - my hull was at 36% when he finally engaged.
The pirate immediately turned on him, blew him up, and within 5 seconds was destroyed leaving me with 250K in credits.

He's died to getting sucked into a sun, pirates, Federales, stations (for smuggling), and running out of fuel.

Sometimes if you want to grief someone there is no better way to do it than by being his wingman. :D

You should find better buddies... the HazRes guys I play(ed) with would be insulted by not helping another CMDR. And they always bring healies :)

I hear about PKers like you, but my experience with them is the opposite. After they send me to the rebuy screen, everything from them over comms is as obnoxious as you can imagine, just to rub my face in it or whatever. The game would be much better off with more "Sir Ganksalots"
