Paving and walkways

With RCT3 I found the paving a nightmare and very limiting. It looks like Planet Coaster is going to have a better option for paving and making walkways. Also I would like to be able to place assets anywhere on the footway, for example benches/bins etc. Also the coaster structures/supports can be put on footways unlike RCT3 which would remove the coaster support if you place a paving slab where the support goes.

It almost looks like they have a new way of making paths but this is something we will find out I'm sure in later dev blogs. But it would be very interesting to see how you could build paths, and que lines.

It looks like its a "fill area" type system, if that's the case, then they're on to a winner. Remember the old Spray paint system for textures, you should be able to spray down walkways too, as well as create static lanes.

I TOTALLY agree !

I thought this was the way they would go for the "other" game. How would you like to see the spray down walkways implemented? It can look a bit messy if it's just like a terrain alteration. Would the sprayed path level out and be distinct from the ground it's placed upon?

The same as "the other game" (lol) with not "curved lines" but "spay".

Like a photoshop brushe, but who create 3D model, to add small borders arround. (Good luck to developers [big grin])

Yeah I agree - Check my idea about self mod and upvoting in the suggestions forum

It wouldn't be messy as such, it would spay (drag in effect) and attach it's self to the sides of other units. It's more of a fill really I guess

Okay, I see what you're saying. When you said spray, I thought you meant like in The Sims 3, where you could spray what looked like path on the ground, but it just ended up looking like you'd painted the floor, like this:

I don't like the way the brick blends with the grass, which is why I asked.

+1

I'd be quite happy with a path where you can plot points and it'd naturally form the path, which you can adjust the width with a slider type bar. Also be able to manipulate the curves by "dragging" the path side to side.

Similar to how some "Railroad" games work, with the added ability to adjust width.

Spline-based dynamic pathways. [big grin]

My thoughts exactly.

I assumed they did Zoo Tycoon that way because they were limited to the Xbox controller. On PC, I think freeform paths are the way to go.
Yep, it's a console game, and it's for pre-teens, so they make it as simplistic as possible.

Now, immagine this, but in 3D (not a single texture), and you got the "Spray Curved Path Builder Tool"

How you would using it? With spraying you couldn't build straight lines! In which case of scenario it would make sense using it for a path system?

But I hope they build the safety system of RCTW.
I prefer set first anchor then second for angle, the last for complete. Like cities. It would be nice if they implement displaying the degrees of angles like some mods in cities.

So you could build a 90 degree roundabout and then just fill the middle. It is Easier to use then spray.

1.---- You activate path in menue. Then before setting the first click at the ground you just change the width by using mousewheel or keys.
2. ----You set your first anchor at the ground.
3. ----You you place your second point of anchor to set its angle. By the way you could change immediately the width of second.
4.----Then you drag your last point to finish or complete.

Like RCTW coaster editor. Just everything with your mouse. And that looks straight cool and not sprayed ugly.

That's probably the way it will go. If we can edit path width on the fly though, that would be cool. I'm just thinking about that concept art, where paths get wider at points, then go back to thin. It makes it all look a bit more interesting if you can alter path sizes as you go.
