So many titles in there leave me scratching my head.
Apart from the obscure titles I've never heard of like Event[0] and Dusk, what exactly does Mass effect have to do in this list? It's only vaguely spacey related, the core of the gameplay is planetbound. And how can they mention the watered down Empire at war without listing Star Wars Rebellion? What exactly makes EVE Valkyrie, a shallow arcade shooter whose only selling point is VR, worthy of a mention amongst the "best space games" ? No Man's Sky? Really? I'm not a hater of the devs as I skipped all the drama and just bought a game I enjoy after watching videos of it, but surely it still has a ways to go. And... Stellaris? Anybody who's bought a strategy/GS game developped by Paradox in the last ten years knows their MO: release a shallow mess and incrementally improve it over the span of several years until it reaches critical mass and turns into a black hole sucking in all your free time. Stellaris is just over one year old, by PI standards it means it's still a mess and it's still shallow. There still are better modern 4x that are just as accessible, like Endless Space and Star Ruler 2.
It's not like they were afraid of adding old titles, they gave Privateer and TIE fighter the thumbs up, so one has to wonder where the hell are Freespace 2, I-war, Freelancer, Nexus the Jupiter Incident? Nothing has dethroned them yet in the space themed game category, so making a list called "the best space games on PC", with no further qualifiers, and omitting them is certainly weird.
I guess TL;DR is, PC gamer is still utter tosh. Well, at least they got KSP right.
