Pegasus Run 3305 (Circumnavigation Expedition)

Seems like a nice challenge, I couldn't make DW2 due to some busy times in my personal life but this expedition seems quite fun. Wasn't planning on returning to the Bubble for a while but I've diverted my course and now 10.000LY away, so I should make it in time :).

Not too sure what ship I'll use in this expedition though. Been flying the Phantom which is not a bad ship but I'm not a huge fan of it's cockpit.

Anyway, CMDR Jorge Marston is signed up on EDSM! :)

Hi guys,

Unfortunately I saw this post only today. 😢 Otherwise surely I would be going with you. But I started my own circumnavigation expedition on my own, a month ago and I am going the opposite way to what you will do. I'm near your waypoint #18 right now, but I'm on the Perseus arm (Ooc Fleau IG-Y d2) and I am stuck trying to cross to Sagitarius-Carinae arm. I have no experience in exploration in distant regions with few systems ( the furthest I went was Sagitarius A * once). My ship has a jump range of 57LY and I have materials for 152 basic FSD injections, or 99 level 2 injections, or 28 level 3 injections. Obviously I am equipped with an SRV to collect some materials.
I am coming back a little to try to find a passage to the Sagitarius-Carinae arm and would greatly appreciate if you could help me in this task. I will follow this topic and, who knows, I will join you when we meet at some point at the galaxy..

Thank you and fly safe.

See if this EDSM route can help out - https://www.edsm.net/en/galactic-routes/show/id/1294/name/The+Perseus+Transit+Deep+Exploration. You seem to be somewhat near it.

Hi. Whilst this expedition doesn't make the crossing you're attempting, I'm currently resuming my own Galactic circumnavigation in a Sidewinder with ~34Ly fully-laden jump range, hoping to meet the Pegasus Expedition at Beagle Point; and my own route intends to cross between the Sagittarius-Carinae and Perseus Arms in the Fourth Quadrant, from Grie Hypae GL-Y d2 (The Grie Hypae Anomaly) to Prea Aick MO-Z d13-2 (King Midas). So perhaps you could head for King Midas and cross to the Centaurus Reach from there without difficulty.

Speaking from experience, it is certainly quicker to take long diversions around the sparsely-populated regions of the Galaxy, than to attempt to navigate directly through them with jumponium, tortuously and frequently running out of reachable stars and possibly even becoming stranded (although it's never happened to me yet). However, the long diversions are less challenging, whilst the sparse regions are less travelled and discoveries made there are more significant. If you take the latter course, I would suggest that having as much jumponium as you can collect (100+ Premium Boosts) does much for the confidence when plunging into unknown un-navigated regions which only jumponium will get you out of again. It's up to you.

Hope that helps. Good luck out there Commander o7

Thank you very much Grimhand and Commander Diffin. Especially for the fast response. ;)

Looking at both suggestions, I could see that they are very similar. Anyway I will need to return more than 6k LY, and as Diffin was mad enough to do it in a 30LY Sidewinder I will try to make my route a bit shorter.
As I said, I will follow this topic and maybe join you at the other side of the galaxy.
Oh, I will let you informed about my arm crossing. :)

'Who is more foolish? The fool or the fool who follows him?'

I didn't say I'd done it. I just said it was on my own circumnavigation route around the Galaxy. Which I plotted 2 years ago now. And which I have only completed little more than a quarter of the way round in all that time (although I did take a break from Elite for 9 months). I'm still in the Outer Arm. On the opposite side of the Galaxy to the Sagittarius-Carina/Perseus crossing you're attempting. I'm not even sure that a 34Ly Sidewinder can cross there. There isn't even a name for the void between those Galactic arms yet.

Maybe you can think of one whilst you get lost in it.

Oh sorry for my misunderstanding (that's my bad English). :p:p
So, you have not done it yet, maybe I'll still be lost there when you arrive. 😂😂

Thank you again, and fly safe.

I've done it twice - the green line in a 27ly Cobra, purple in a 40ly Clipper. You should probably come back down the arm a bit but if you're in a 60-70ly ship you should be able to cross a good chunk before my purple line.

By the way, CMDR Erratic Spawn will publish his expedition journal here (his previous journal may serve as an example). Obviously a very personal view, but hopefully enriched with some details about the expedition in general (highlights, mishaps, rescues, waypoint statistics, etc.)

Caveat: He is neither a professional writer nor photographer.
@SGT-Stubby: I did use the Pegasus Run logo without asking for permission. Apologies if that is a problem, just let me know if I should remove it.

Yes, next time ask before. But I approve it's use on this.
Thanks. The site wasn't actually accessible until today, but yes I should have asked first  In fact, it is still set to "Hidden" so it does not get picked up by search engines and can only be found by having the link.

Edit: I have added a (generic) Credit Footer with respect to the logo explaining your kind permission as the creator for its use and that all rights are yours. If you want me to be more specific please let me know what else to put there. I'm not really a pro in this, but do not want to give the impression that the logo is my work, if in fact it isn't. Thanks again.

ANNOUNCEMENT

THE DISCORD SERVER HAS CHANGED.

WHY

Simply put, FleetComm does not provide the functionality that I would like for the expedition. I did want a single discord server for all fleet requirements, but after multiple (read: months) of requests by members, I finally caved and am opening up my discord server to support this expedition.

If you have any issues, the channel in FleetComm is still up, and will still be supported by FleetComm until the end of the expedition.

That certainly will help me as well, since I have no experience with Discord specifically (just general IT experience with communication tools). I was afraid to get steamrolled in the FleetComm channel, this way I can go through the learning curve a bit easier.

Hi guys, how is your journey?

As I've promised I'm here to tell you I could manage to cross, with your help, from Perseus to Sagitarius-Carina Arm.
I lost my SRV when I was collecting some materials to boost my FSD and make the cross. I was low on fuel and received a phone call that took much more time than it should. When I returned to my PC I was back to my ship and now I have no SRV anymore. I will proceed with the mission.

Thank you very much for your help and tips.

Here is my route so far (I've turned to north when I could plot routes without injection again).

Greetings Commanders,

after finishing the LRH3305 Epedition, which was great fun, I am up to do some more Exploration.

Just started, passed Enif, and am now on my way to the asteroid bases in the Heart and Soul Nebulae. Then a short Detour-Re-Visit of some Inra-Sites;
maybe even a meet and greet with the Zurara.

And then - into the black for some time.

The communication takes place at the discord-server, I guess?

Is there a Squadron I can join for this Expedition?

Are there any Participants of the LRH3305-Expedition joining this Expedition (heard rumors about that).

Hope that there will be some meetups some time of the expedition - is there anything planned for the near future?

And... although I've been to Enif, on EDSM there is now entry at the Expedtion-Waypoint-Page, that I have been there.
I use EDMC & Api; also uploaded my logs directly to EDSM. - Is there a Bug or do I just have to be patient?

Fly safely and let's have fun!

hey, on the pegasus run discord, i don't see any entries, and it seems locked for me - am i doing something wrong/do i need more than to accept the invitation following the link above?

or is it empty :)?

and: how about founding a pegasus-run-squadron for the time being?
