I would say just the opposite - all customers should be welcomed to suggest any feature big or small, and just because a vocal few don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s bad at all.
Indeed, all suggestions are welcome, that doesn't make all suggestions good, and lets not get into arguments over majority/minority, you have no idea which side of the argument represents the minority, indeed those opposed might represent the majority.
This is FDevs forum for Elite customers, and he’s a customer, so it’s his right to voice his opinion.
Indeed he does, nobody is saying he doesn't
He doesn’t have to placate anyone, doesn’t have to conduct any research, and his suggestion doesn’t have to benefit anyone but himself, a customer.
Oh agreed there, but if he is the only person it benefits there's no chance it will be taken up, research benefits requests.
FDev gets hundreds of suggestions here, many of which get panned by a vocal few, BUT thankfully a lot of them still make it into the game (like auto launch among others.)
Auto-launch hasn't been a major request on the forums as far as I can recall, there are things that come up all the time like fast travel, but auto-launch not so much.
That said, even if he did make a grand case for this feature, those who read these forums often know no matter the argument dozens of posters here hate this idea, even though the MAJORITY of open world online games have a feature like this.
This is ED, not any other game, just because it works in other games doesn't mean it will work very well here, this is where the research part comes in.
But no worries here - the fact that you can’t choose which of your ships you spawn when you start the game just reduces the potential user base for the game, which is no big deal as there are so many awesome games out there it’s not like it’s Elite or nothing.

How do you know, done research on this have you? I thought not. Yes there are plenty of games out there, but how many open world galactic exploration games, and which of those allows spawning in any ship you own, and does lack of that really reduce the player base? Lack of research means that argument can be dismissed out of hand.
The fact is we are all entitled to have our opinions and post them here, we are also all entitled to post in opposition to others opinions, trying to paint the people who post in opposition to a opinion you agree with as a "vocal minority" is a form of opinion suppression, trying to shame them into not posting. So regardless of all the other posters here and what they have posted, such behavior is not cool.
