Pilot's Federation Elite Rank Requirements: Combat, Trade, Explorer

The following details the requirements for rank progression. As of now (Pre 1.2, see note), trade and exploration are fairly accurate, however combat still requires figuring out and more information, so please post if you know anything.

*I could not find a definitive list for the rank requirements so I decided to start a thread for one.
*If you have information regarding the missing requirements, please post it here and I'll amend the list accordingly.
*Values are approximate and may vary slightly from player to player.
*As far as I know, 'BLACK MARKET PROFIT' and 'PROFIT FROM MINING' do not contribute to trade rank progression (unconfirmed).

*The information above applies to the game prior to version 1.2. Since 1.2 was released profits have been scaled in various ways, presumably adjusting rank progression. For example, exploration profits were approximately doubled so I'd expected to see rank progressions at x2 each value in that category. As such, for the sake of avoiding confusion, I will not update this list with any new information for now as the old numbers may be conflicting with the new ones.

All ranks are determined by the amount of credits accumulated for each profession.

I think this is fairly baseless. All accounts I've heard are that it's based on ship kills and their pilot skill. I'm on ~3.5 million profit from combat and I'm still novice..
 
Not holding water with Explorer ranks either. Friend of mine got Ranger rank at 10.5MCr & I got it somewhere between 11MCr & 12MCr.
 
Okay well let's figure out how it works and I'll change the list.
...I actually got this list from another website, but as you can see it's incomplete. It's also consistent with my ranks so I figured it was correct.

Also: Fighting in the conflict zones I can confirm that my rank only went up when I handed in the combat bonds - so cash related again.

I forget when i got combat competent, I want to say around the low 400 kill range at about 3 mil credits but i'm just ballparking that. Combat Expert at around 750 kills and I have somewhere just short of 8mil in bounties. I wasn't paying exact attention at when the rank rolled over kill to kill. In any case, I wouldn't get too hung up on ranks, it's kind of better having it a mystery.
 
Dangerous rank, i'm estimating 2600 kills (gleaned from the telemetry log a few days ago), ~42m profit.

The rankup happened between tips to combat zones, so i'm saying its kill related.

P.S. Latest log value for kills is 2803

The log in question is C:\Users\(computer username)\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\TelemetryCache.log

The OP is consistent with what I currently have.

Combat: Competent; 517 Kills + Bonds, 3.4m cr
Trade: Dealer; 2.1m cr
Explorer: Trailblazer; 1.8m cr
 
There is some disparity in the trading rank. I reached Tycoon at exactly 420 million but I've seen others reach it at 385 Million. I know I'm not the only one to trigger it at 420 million but no-one has any confirm data as to why it varies.

I can also confirm that I reached combat dangerous at 2,600 kills and I was in a combat zone when it happened so I hadn't handed in the bonds before it kicked in.

I did reach Tycoon right around the 385 mark, on the other hand I hit expert in combat around 450 combat bonds/bounties.
 
I have ranked up from Expert to Master without leaving the Warzone or cashing in any bonds. I noticed I went from Competent to Expert while at a Nav Zone ---

So I don't think it's related to Credits.

I'll update with the kill numbers when I play later . . .

Updated with everyone's numbers so far. Also added this as I just went from novice to competent at 1,717,370 CR / 172 kills.
 
I have ranked up from Expert to Master without leaving the Warzone or cashing in any bonds. I noticed I went from Competent to Expert while at a Nav Zone ---

So I don't think it's related to Credits.

My rank has also changed hands in the middle of a battlefield, but I do still think it is to do with total credits. For some reason the game seems to take bounty vouchers earned as well as all the other credits cashed in into account, but I don't know what happens if you lose them all when your ship goes down. However, that is just the status panel that changes only: the decal doesn't appear in your outfitters until long after you have cashed in your vouchers and even after any approrpiate factional adjustments have been processed. It only seems to affect the combat ranks.

Not based on credits earned afaik. I have seen others rank up faster with less kills and less credits then others.

I'm open to this being true --- I guess I can test the decal issue next time I level up (i'll see if it appears before I cash in bonds ----).

Last time I cashed in and then went straight to outfitters and it was there waiting for me (I did spend several days camping in the warzone without cashing in though so it the game had time to process stuff . . .)

It took me an hour or so between gaining the new rank on my status panel and acquiring the decal in the outfitters, including logging off and logging back in. In between, the available decals menu was completely blank but I could still select old decals.

I wonder if killing a CMDR with a huge multimillion bounty will lead to a massive jump in the combat ranks, especially if you have a lowish rank to start with by way of few combat profits? It was certainly the case that one could do that with exploration: until it was sensibly dialled down, the Sagittarius A* system used to be worth 139.7 million credits, which, once sold, instantly granted explorer Elite status due to the way the ranks were calculated.
