Pirates and Scavs should look the part

Anyone else notice that scavs all look the same in their custom colored Maverick suits? Or that settlement personnel at sites manned by pirate factions look…. the same as everyone else? It always just hit me as feeing sort of wrong.

@frontier, can we play with this a bit? There are custom skins specifically intended to make you look like a raider. Can these skin components be applied to scavs and pirate settlement security personnel in a somewhat RNG fashion to help with some of the immersion? It really would add some much needed flair.

Now why I mentioned adding this only to pirate faction security personnel is that they are typically outfitted in more generic combat oriented suits that already resemble the Artemis. These would be much easier to outfit appropriately as opposed to the custom outfits of other personnel such as lab and mining techs. If you want to tell it as story, the pirates took over and are essentially keeping tabs on the people they are having do the work for them. OR, give them some custom pirate specific outfits for their parts. Maybe the medical staff have blood splatters on their lab coats maintenance folks have Mohawks and goggles.

Really, I just want the pirates and scavs to actually look more the part, as opposed to it just being my pilot alone in the universe, looking like he’s late for a Halloween party.

We could generally do with more diversity around how things look accoring to a situation. There's been improvements, but for example Imperial and Federal stations, outposts etc. do not really look that different.

If we look at ship designs for example - they are very distinguishable. Locations are not and it's a massive shame.

This is my biggest complaint of the game. Especially after Odyssey, with the homogeneous interiors.

That would be my idea to set the stations apart.
I understand that these stations are produced by corporations that have a monopoly on their production, but I think it would be feasible to have the major factions' design philosophy change the entire interior (not just the on-foot stuff) of their stations. The layout would stay the same, as this is provided by the manufacturer, but things like buildings and parks would give a little extra flavour if following some design clues of the major faction. Maybe even have them different exterior colour schemes - which would also fit to some of the bigger "small" factions.

It's a great suggestion, as is changing up the interiors a bit to reflect different factions etc. It's worth remembering that for a decent amount of time all the stations were the same and it was at a later point where differences were added based on the economy type etc.. I would hope it would work out in a similar fashion for Odyssey settlements and NPCs in general too.

I've seen NPCs in different suits. I once was in a battle with an NPC in a pink suit. But then again I don't care about the colour of their suits as long as they fall when I hit them hard enough.

I don't even think the layouts would necessarily stay the same. Different space outpost exterior types have different locations for the concourse. And we now have different docking area buildings. So I can see different size/layout for concourses based on station type. Also based on security or wealth. For example, richer stations would have snazzy, clean and larger concourses. You know, really using that wealth to bring in pilots. While poorer or less reputable stations would be smaller and rundown. With visible grime, rust, and maybe sparking or glitching wall panels or ad boards.

I could imagine larger stations having a counter at the docking bay area for repairs, restock, outfitting and liveries. On smaller stations providing these services, there could be a few consoles for that purpose.

One thing I feel is missing on the concourse is a counter for Universal Cartographics.
