Planet Coaster modding... Is it possible?

So what happens when you click and drop it? Does it still drop a janitor or is it visual only?

Also gregorburns, I would very much like a mod where you can have a black hud instead of the blue. Is that possible?

I'm wondering how the sharing of mods will go, since you probably edit a file, are we allowed to share that file or can you only share the part of the code and do people have to edit the line numbers themselves?

The only thing I changed there was the texture of the janitor button, so placing the janitor is still exactly the same. I have been trying to find the janitor's face texture to stick vampiro's avatar on that, but I can't find it yet [haha]

In terms of a black hud, I'm not sure about that, but I will look into it. I imagine its probably a colour value somewhere, possibly in a config file, but I will let you know if I find anything.

And for sharing mods, I'm really not sure. The way I have done these texture mods is to simply edit the appropriate .ovl/.ovs files, and then replace the original with my newly created one in the game files. I am a bit reluctant to share too much info at this stage about how I did things, or with releasing my source code. But I would like to eventually get more people on board and release some of my knowledge to the wider community. At this stage though its still all very much WIP, and I'm not sure exactly how the sharing aspect will work.
 
As a fan of Cappucino flavoured Ice cream I take two balls of the second one please ... [wacky]. ... Okay, I'm totally impressed. Imagine we all could create our own individual planet coaster start up screen ... nice idea.

Now Frontier has two solutions, one is to change the code, the other is to add a mod tool. I hope they will choose the second.

Here's a little something I've been working on today; changing track restrictions. If I can work out a way of sharing the mod I made for this one without breaching any rules, I may do so.

mind blown [weird] anyway to make the train have better physics?

Actually I've been looking into that, and not yet found a way with the train, but I will keep investigating. I have however found a way of changing the mass of ride vehicles, and it does seem to affect the physics of coasters significantly, just not the powered rides like the train...
 
i think the biggest thing that a lot of people would love to have is the ability to switch cars without rebuilding a track, but then again these probably wont work on the steamworkshop??

I made the mod by editing a .ovl file, which is unique now to my PC. So I'm not sure what would happen if I was to share that track on the workshop, and have someone else attempt to place it [weird]

Switching cars is something I would like to have too, but I'm not sure that's something that will be possible through modding. At least not at this stage, never say never :D

But i seems you are making progress FAST now :D

Really makes me curious what would happen if you set the max speed higher. Would guests think a steamtrain that drives at maglev speed would be too intense to ride? [big grin]

Changing the mass is basically what frontier is doing with adding the friction slider?
