Planet graphics is broken in many ways and FDEV is in silence. Why?

And let's be honest... Anyone who tested Odyssey before the release (an internal tester or even a community manager) would see that the game wasn't ready. So, you're right and there is no way to disagree with you on this.
So in other words you had to pre-order it and pay for the alpha to realize ahead of time (or too late?) that you made a big mistake?

BTW, I'm curious on how they'll fix everything, in special how they will optimize the graphics to the console launch.
Run this update in a 1.8tflops console (PS4) will be a challenge. :)

My friend, you may call me crazy or even an idiot (and you be right if you do ehhehe), but even with all this issues, I like to play Odyssey.
If you are currently having fun - good for you - and not in any sarcastic way.

My major issue is performance.
I Can't play a game that runs sometimes 60fps (space) and 15-20fps in other places - it drives me nuts.

You're right. The performance it's terrible, and I really hope they fix that. Less and less people is playing Odyssey because of that.

I'd bet EDO planet tech is largely working as designed, CMDRs just don't like it.
There are a lot of planets working well, but some has issues. A popup graphic like an elevation, texture, shadow or even a mountain it's not 'by design'.
I've posted are two videos about that (D2A and Obisian Ant).
Fdev confirmed it's broken in some parts and they're 'investigating'.

Speaking as someone who manages a large technical team.

Sometimes the people trying to fix the issue are not the same people you want to update a customer

But I could be wrong.
You're right Dinbar. One of them I've opened at the release day, but there are a LOT of issues and maybe could take even months to fix and answer.

I have 1050 card which is 3% better then PS4, it works like on your video however with low-med settings and at 720p. Didn't try AMD CAS though yet.

I would attribute 50% of my negative review to the planet tech which I find to be a mixed bag at best and definitely not an upgrade.
The other 50% goes to performance.
Oh - I on the other hand consider the Planetary Tech a major improvement, with bugs, over Horizons. Each to their own. Point made, I guess!

Some of the planets look good, others much more basic than before.

I seriously hope you are wrong.

I think the biggest issue is the fact that it cant be changed on the fly and will affect everywhere. To be fair I still find what they have done in terms of simulating a galaxy to be a fantastic achievement. Its just the latest iteration that has its challenges.

They absolutely are forbidding their devs from talking to the playerbase.

If they would - the devs would say they never wanted to release it this way.

I don't know how the devs will respond to the complete change in planet tech approached though.
Who first came up with the idea of doing away with proc-gen and moving to pre-made assets?
That's a core fundamental decision in EDO and not a mistake - but yet how it plays out seems like one.

U should stop reading forums and fly urself. I haven't seen famous "twin rock" for 2 weeks already. It is in progress of fixing for good. Now there are some invisible rocks wich drop shadows to fix.

Flat planets are a thing I saw myself, I played Horizons long enough to know the difference.

It depends. Go to the Jameson crashed cobra in Horizons and then in Odyssey.
You'll see the HUGE downgrade. In Horizons its awesome, in Odyssey it's terrible.
But many new planets, in special with nitrogen atmosphere are great.
