Planet Zoo | Americas Animal Pack | Announce

I love Gods world and I kill Wild Animals for food
Well I hate that because unlike wild animals we can make informed choices about our actions and that is a choice to be needlessly violent. I can't help but wonder what it does to the soul. I choose to be vegetarian / 90% vegan with occasional fish as a treat. But I do respect hunting more than buying factory farmed meat at the supermarket. Not that anyone needs my opinion but there it is: be kind to planet and animals even if it involves some self sacrifice, it is needed now more than ever 🌱

I hate factory farmed meat, it is cruel. Also I follow a rule, the animal must always have a painless death and cannot see any murderous weapon. It also cannot be panicked and must be calm.

Days later and I’m still genuinely confused at why they didn’t include coati. It seemed like the most obvious inclusion and impossible to be missed… but…

I’m not even upset about it, I just literally don’t understand. We’ve done their market research for them, it’s right there on multiple lists, but they ignored it.

I’ll never consider anything an obvious addition again. Swept the rug out from under me!

Edit: nevermind I miss read the situation, with that said I still think this meme applies to the certain special person

Just catching up to the raging coyote debates, and yeesh. Kinda glad I was at work now.
It was a little wild

The only thing I can think of is that it's planned to be apart of another pack. I still believe that they won't end it here on the sole reasoning being that they wouldn't be able to bundle the Americas pack unless they release another DLC

The only scenario where this makes sense to me, is if we got another zookeepers-like pack next. The spectacled bear could have been instead of most the animals in this pack, and it would have made the pack better to many. Yet we got it in zookeepers, likely because if they didn't include anything South American in it, it would create too much drama since we had no clue Americas Animal Pack would be next.

And if they do another random bundle pack, they still got no good reason to not include something South American in it, even if the drama would be less after this pack.

It is seemed as roadkill, kills many pets every year, only has a 17 holdings worldwide, and took the spot of the most wanted pack that could have been Coatimundi or Patagonian Mara...😭
Okay, I am late, but I just have to reply to this.

It is seemed as roadkill - I cannot possibly see why this would disqualify any animal from being added to the game. It means absolutely nothing.

kills many pets every year - are we now acting surprised pikachu that animals kill other animals to survive...? Jaguars, Tigers and Leoapards kill many pets too...Hell, even your domestic dogs and cats will kill wildlife given the chance. In case of domestic cats, they can do enourmous harm to local wildlife when allowed outside.

only has a 17 holdings worldwide - as if that ever mattered to Frontier. Plus we had lots and lots of animals with even lesser number of holdings.

and took the spot of the most wanted pack that could have been Coatimundi or Patagonian Mara.. - who says the Ocelot did not take the spot? Or Flamingo? Or any other animals from those.

Its not really complicated. They've got no money to do animals like this anymore.

Aside from the possibility others have mentioned that they're waiting till the last DLC to drop all the absolute most-requested animals, I'm going to just assume their staff has decreased so much over the past year that any higher-effort animals (Like Coati, Howler, Secretary Bird, any non-ratite birds, Tree Kangaroo, etc.) are probably too much work this late in the game. The work and potentially funds outweigh the work the devs can still reasonably put out. But since there's still a fairly active player base buying DLCs, they're gonna try to squeeze as much profit as they can out of the game, while still trying to meet our desires to the best of their abilities.

(I don't think they're completely deaf to our wants, as this latest pack we're getting: A New World Monkey, 2 American Birds, and more species to round out South America in general, all of which the community has been asking for for ages now. They just don't have the means to get us precisely what we're asking for anymore)

Well said. This is exatly what I am thinking too.

Pack ranking.

Coyote: 10/10
Because I wanted it and I love them. I’m hoping they have some custom coyote yips and screams but I’m just happy to have them officially in game. I can see where the texture criticism is coming from, it’s a bit of a blurry mess of fins, and the eyes look a bit misshapen. I still love my songdog and I hope the pups are cute!

Saki: 10/10
Model and textures look incredible, we needed more monkeys, especially from South America. I’m confident they’ll be dimorphic. Unexpected pick to me (we don’t have any in Australian zoos so they’re an exotic choice to me!) and I love that they’re colourful.

Ocelot: 5/10
Mid-size cat. Model looks fine. Not bothered by the inclusion, but could have gone to something more visually interesting like the coati or Mara.

Bighorn sheep: 10/10
North American ungulate, heck yeah! Haven’t seen the model yet but I’m hyped it’s here. Can be used in cold or hot climates. Dall sheep about to be upstaged by its much more handsome and impressive cousin.

Rhea: 8/10
I didn’t care until I saw the model and those phenomenal feathers!! The textures are brilliant, happy to have the Rhea. Will be useful in mixed habitats for some height.

Flamingo: 5/10
Yeah ok. At least it’s the pretty pink one. Like the rhea, I’ll be raving about it if the textures and model are an improvement over the greater flamingo.

Bush dog: 10/10
Another wishlist animal for me! What a unique looking and behaving species! Super excited to have them - I missed out on them when I travelled from Australia to America (they were sleeping out of sight at Columbus Zoo) so I’ll enjoy making up for it in game. Can’t wait to see the model! What an awesome surprise.

Scenery: 6/10
Canopies, window bars, flags, recolourable stucco pieces and lamps and confetti are exciting. Hoping for some plants. The fences are too similar to barnyard and some pieces look a little too specifically themed, I just personally prefer generic practical items like we got in conservation pack.

Overall, this pack is maybe my third or fourth favourite. My little heart would have given out if they’d included coati, but hopefully it’s introduced in a future pack.

The more I think about this pack (it's all I can really focus on to be honest), the more I realise that I'm starting to like the coyote more and more.
In fact, I'd say that my only real "criticism" if you could call it that is that I wish the pack was bigger, and included other animals such as the White-Tailed Deer or the Black Bear... I'd love to make a small, low-budget "backyard zoo" set somewhere in America, and it would be so great to have these two as well.
(Plus whitetails are probably a top 5 ungulate for me, narrowly beaten out by a few antelopes and goats)

And yet the prices for us are stil the same, without the quality that was there before. With full understanding for their financial situation, this still does not sit well with me.

Without any inflation, a price that remains the same 5+ years on is essentially a price decrease. How much have your bills gone up since 2019? They have for Frontier too, but they are not passing that cost on to us.
