I'm just gonna leave this for now...

And implied text on tiny boards! That will be so usefull for custom skeletons
To me, no offense but I think two grey wolf subspecies plus dingo in one latest zoo game seems enough to me. Was timber wolf a subspecies name of grey wolf?Imma be honest, this DLC is giving me major nostalgia. Like, major. It reminds me of Zoo Tycoon 1 (still a solid game, if y'all haven't played it give it a go)
Why? Well, let's take the sombrero. Seemingly useless, but, as stated before, I can make the Prairie Dog Cafe:

As well as several other things in the Mexican theme, which came out in the Endangered Species pack, alongside the Mexican wolf:

Now, while we didn't get the wolf, the coyote fits that desert canine from the Americas that I actually secretly hoped for.
On top of that, we got the bighorn sheep, an animal also found in ZT1:

I dunno, the more I think of these strange additions, the more I actually like them and will make the most of them
"Timber wolf" can refer to some specific subspecies of grey wolf, but more broadly it's a colloquial term referring to North American and European wolves. The in-game "timber wolf" is just a generic grey wolf designed around mostly North American morphology, most closely resembling the Northwestern wolf subspecie (Canis lupus occidentalis). Myself and others believe that Frontier originally intended on it being a Northwestern wolf but perhaps decided last minute to make it generic for broader usage or something (or because the game had no European animals at that point). Was timber wolf a subspecies name of grey wolf
In the Italian version of Planet Zoo, while still having the scientific name Canis lupus and having the distribution map of the whole species, the Timberwolf is straight-up called "Northwestern Grey Wolf" (Lupo grigio nordoccidentale)... So for years I've had this sort of Mandela effect cause I vividly remember that, at some point, it was called C. lupus occidentalis in game"Timber wolf" can refer to some specific subspecies of grey wolf, but more broadly it's a colloquial term referring to North American and European wolves. I agree completely with this. And why only the daffodil bunch without flowers in the smaller size? That could potentially be very useful so why not get it in the larger size too?And one more thing I wanna address to the Frontier developers: If you don't wanna do updates anymore, but don't call it an update when give us one more flower. What about giving us the animal statues or animal mural in the same style finally for example? This would be so easy to be put together and a lot of players would be happy about it. Or one or two more plushies for the Souvenir Shop? There are little ideas that would Planet Zoo fans happy instead of the little outcome this "update" had.
IIRC it's called the Northwestern wolf in the text of one of the base game campaigns, too, which to me further proves that was the original intent. In the Italian version of Planet Zoo, while still having the scientific name Canis lupus and having the distribution map of the whole species, the Timberwolf is straight-up called "Northwestern Grey Wolf" (Lupo grigio nordoccidentale)... It happens exactly the same in the Spanish version. The thing is that "timber wolf" may have sense in common English as an umbrella term for all grey wolf subspecies in cold climates, but in Spanish (and probably Italian too) you either address the subspecies (Mckenzie wolf, Indian wolf, Mexican wolf...) or the whole "grey wolf" species. And they couldn't use the generic "grey wolf" term because the Arctic one was already planned and the translators knew it, and Frontier said them that the timber wolf was based on that subspecies. In the Italian version of Planet Zoo, while still having the scientific name Canis lupus and having the distribution map of the whole species, the Timberwolf is straight-up called "Northwestern Grey Wolf" (Lupo grigio nordoccidentale)... Ohhh it was there! Kinda haha. Why didnt they just make some nice big mulch pieces, especially as they used it in their promotional pics, what a misfire!
Yeah idk, i gotta agree with the early access people who said this doesnt really look that good, the texture is pretty blurry and seems to be to big. So i dont think not having this is a huge loss, but yeah still a shame as i was really hyped for new mulch texturesOhhh it was there! Kinda haha. Gotta admit the scenery and update is super lazy this time. I love all the new pieces but there is too much repetition to justify calling it 80 pieces.
Cmon Frontier, show us a little more love, we deserve nice things️
I was really hoping for some more cowboy / goucho decorations. Cowboy hat and boots would be so cute in our little ranch houses.Yeah idk, i gotta agree with the early access people who said this doesnt really look that good, the texture is pretty blurry and seems to be to big. Frontier, if you could refine the texture a little bit, maybe scale it down id still take these as new pieces tho.
Also agree on the pieces, calling it 80 different ones seem like overselling it. Really should have just been the flags and strings as individual pieces with the arrangements being blueprints. That why we maybe could have gotten some choice pieces from the western set of coaster, those would have fit in here pretty decently

Yeah... IMO it would have been better to just translate it as grey wolf and call it a day. I feel like the Arctic Wolf wouldn't cause problems anywayIt happens exactly the same in the Spanish version. This reminds me of the time when South America Pack dropped, and I was incredibly mad because all the promotional material advertised "over 170 new pieces" and so I (understandably) expected a lot of new pieces, maybe new pots, fences, decorations, or something...Also agree on the pieces, calling it 80 different ones seem like overselling it. Update doesn't mean new additional content. Bug fixes are considered part of updates. This is a small update, but it's an update after all. Most of the few things changed in the update where reported on the issue tracker, proving once again that we should report everything there. And one more thing I wanna address to the Frontier developers: If you don't wanna do updates anymore, but don't call it an update when give us one more flower. In the history of PZ, "Free Update"(particularly when attached to a DLC) always meant both bug fixes and a sizeable amount of new content. It's only in the past couple DLCs that the new content has waned. This is the first where it was essentially nothing. 99% of the update was bug fixes and name/text changes. Of course the community is going to be critical of that, as there are still many aspects of the game that can still be improved and updated.Update doesn't mean new additional content.
