Planet Zoo: Barnyard Animal Pack | Announce

I'm not complaining about ultra realism I just want to build something like my local brazilian zoo but I CAN'T because Frontier prefer chickens instead New World animals and it's like a personal attack against us latin americans. Thanks modders to did the job that frontier just don't care

Europe, Twilight, Eurasia.

In the latter we got the boar, the swan, the wisent, the wolverine, the hermanns tortoise. In Twilight the red fox. Anniversary red deer.

I'm not complaining about any of these inclusion (i didn't really needed the wisent at all but i understand why it was important) but they all came in the middle of the on going discussion of not having good enough southamerican representation and so on. And at the time we were also not sure if it was or not the last DLC.

I think all five were important and necessary to "complete" Europe but i think there is some bias because they decided to Focus those resources on expanding the Europe roster instead of investing them in monkeys, birds and southamerican animals.

Like i said though i'm not complaining about their inclusión. The red deer and the swan are some of my favorite animals in the game. But Europe was prioritize over something else late in the game's life.

But again that bias is understandable being an European company and wanting to being representation to that continent that is usually ignored in most zoo games.

And now with this farm pack 4 out of 7 animals are from the UK. So it reinforces my opinion on this.
Yeah but is having a dedicated scenery pack, Part of an animal pack and the odd animal here and there bias? Feels like that the norm really.
Oceania has 2 dedicated packs and the odd animal here and there, same for africa.

If anything id feel like there was a bias against europe seeing how we only got the first european animals 2 years into support, and the eurasia pack bring the region into a nice spot very recently

I don't know if it feels like a personal attack but i do think they don't care about Latinamerica and have a bias towards other regions. They sure love South East Asia and Oceania.

And even though NA is well represented that's mainly because of base game and it's animal pack since it didn't really got much more than that. Other than that it got the skunk in Twilight and the it shared the wolverine and red fox with Europe.

I count armadillo and peccary as pan american animals and mainly latinamerican BTW.

The boar, wisent, wolverine, red fox, and red deer were all fairly highly requested, which does take away from your point a little bit

Even though I am looking forward to the pack, I am not the biggest fan of the breeds chosen at all (except for the highland cow and donkey i think)
But isn't this part of the problem? Even by farm animal standards, the choices made are objectively bad... but we're just gonna shrug and say oh well... or worse, act like it's some how a great thing? Doesn't this just incentify more of these kinds of bad choices?

The choices made are 100% not the best options, but I would rather look forward to the pack than complain about the breeds when frontier is not going to change them. The animals are already made, so I can just deal with it.

I feel they are joking with us, we got a TROPICAL pack with just one Neotropical animal (and its for WTE LOL). Just one animal from the continent with the biggest tropical rainforest od the world in a DLC with tropical theme. It seems like a personal attack against latin america.

Not to keep adding wood to your fire but we got a FARM pack anounced on EARTH DAY instead of something more biodiverse like idk an Amazon pack (you know, the lungs of the planet Earth lol)

I don't believe i'm saying this, but, domestics deserved this pack more than SA animals.
Why? Well look at the numbers: we have roughly 13 animals from SA, meanwhile domestics only have 3, and all of them are cammelids, there's a very obvious and dramatic difference between both and domestic clearly needed the boost.
What a bold statement :D

You lost your mind to say this about a game of zoo focused on WILDLIFE CONSERVATION. This forum have a bunch of weird nonsense comments.

Well yeah... I mean, he's arguing animals manufactured by humans, for humans, with basically zero presence on the average wishlist, have a greater need of representation than some of the most popular animals of the natural world...
I mean i want more SA animals as much as the next guy but...
You're.... not wrong
Hes isnt. We have atleast a few SA animals, theyre are desperately underepresented, but you can alteast build a section for them with animals you would actually find in a zoos SA section.
Whereas for petting zoos you really couldnt. Sure we had the 3 camels but those are as usefull for petting zoos as king penguins are for south america sections

Which might have been a decent argument, if not for the animals in this pack being some of the dumbest, least demanded choices for a petting zoo...

Well, we only live once.

I am requesting zoo animals for a zoo game, shocking.

Also, before someone get any idea, i really want more SA animals, more than african ones or asian ones or oceania ones, but i also want to be able to build petting zoos/ farm areas or more diverse and complex areas for my zoos, and i absolutelly need domestics to do so.

So yeah let domestic have the spotlight, at least this time.

Funny that frontier never said anything about this game being about "wildlife conservation", and actually saying it's about building zoos, with have domestic animals on them.

I also must mention that wildlife conservation arguments only show up when the animals discussed are domestic ones, i never saw someone complain about NA pack or europe pack because they only have non-endangered species, and nobody said anything about the dromedary despite it being a domestic itself, so i guess wild life conservation only matter when the animal in question is a traditional domestic.

Yeah this. For something like the porcupine noone cared that it has little to no conservational value and is considered a pest throughout its range, same with the baboon.

And funnily enough most traditional breeds do have sort of a conservational value, since the big scale meat industry took hold most of them are threatend by extinction.
So zoos do play a big role in keeping these around. Its not exactly the same thing as with wild animals, but still
