Planet Zoo - Colour Variation

@Chante Goodman I was wondering will there be a future update to readily have the white variants and black jaguar variant available in sandbox mode in the foreseeable future? I know this has been requested several times but I was wondering if you would be able to give us a answer?

they are available, you just need to be lucky to breed them :) (but i wish you could just buy them on the market, since it is sandbox)

@LillidarAn yeah that’s what I meant maybe a option in the game settings would be nice since sandbox is usually for show anyway.
I agree.. I would love to have them in sandbox, but i hate puppyfarms :( so it takes me ages to get them, lol.., (still have 0)
While in franchise i just buy them on the market.

I would also like an online sandbox mode, so a combination of sandbox with the franchise market :)

You can buy them from the market in sandbox too though; the albino zebra in Koali came right out of the market 😜 The icons are just the regular icons!

It's really great that we won't have the same looking animals anymore. Once again thanks. This was a request I also wanted very much. :)
It is really good that you let us know about the progress of the game. :)
I hope we get this update as soon as possible. and with a DLC on the side. :)

Nice to see coat variants in action. However, I do have one little suggestion: instead of "sutble, medium, major", would it be possible to rename the levels to be "minor, moderate, major"? It's nothing serious, I just think the alliteration sounds nicer. :giggle:

Hello Frontier,

Thanks for sharing this! I appreciate the update and tidbit of information of what's to come. I think the colour variations will definitely nudge more life and personality to the animals. I'm looking forward to the news on the other things you're up to as well - especially the part about the genetics impacting herds and individual animals. That part has me excited.

On a personal note, I hope you don't forget about the Komodo Dragons (variations of greens, yellows, browns, blues). They're my favourite animal, so I'm certainly biased.

Cheers!

There still ought to be a way of more easily obtaining them in Sandbox. Since the market cannot be flooded by them and cannot be easily refreshed, it's either spend hours on a puppyfarm, or continuously purchase all four available market animals, check each one, quarantine the ones that are injured or sick, then sell them again, and repeat this process over and over until you get lucky.

In Franchise of course there are tons of albinos and mutations in the marketplace, so it's not exactly difficult.

IMO the black jaguar is the only variation we really need more access to in Sandbox but since it functions on the same system whatever change they make will likely have to apply to all (which for me isn't preferred - I have little interest in albino zebras and elephants, but the black jaguar is a must).

Edit: In fact, even fixing the icons and making it so the refresh button actually re-randomises the Sandbox market (thus avoiding the tedium of buy --> sell (sometimes quarantine) in the process) would go a long way to helping out Sandbox players. This way we could just hit 'refresh' over and over until a mutant appears.

Will any animals of the same species have different "categories" of variation? For example, a "major" wolf and a "subtle" wolf. Once again, great update!

It just means, that the differences between the variations are major oder subtle. The bison just has different shades of the same brown while the wolf has different colors.

For having both in one species, there had to be a "main color", so you can tell if the difference ist major oder subtle. But I don't think that's what they mean.

I hope you understand what I want to say.... english isn't my main language ^^

While it's good to finally hear something and I'm really happy for those who are so excited about it, this certainly won't be enough for me personally to go back to the game. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the work that went into it and the game sure will be more colorful when it's implemented but that's just it, it's cosmetic and a few minor additions to management when it comes to breeding.

Sadly that just isn't enough for me to suddenly make me forget and ignore all the other issues there are when it comes to basic gameplay. Like the frustrating restrictions that come with the water, path and barrier placement, huge hitboxes and major performance issues that arise sooner rather than later no matter what rig you have, not to mention visitors that care more about shops than animals and all the other bugs still going around.

So yeah, while I like the colour variations and am happy for all you guys who've been waiting for them for ages, I'm keeping my own expactations down until I see everything the new update and possible dlc will bring. No use in getting all hyped up about some mainly cosmetic stuff while the core gameplay and all it's issues that made me stop playing in the first place remain the same.

I have to agree with this.. this also drove a few of my friends away from the game, and i am at the point that when nothing changes with the next update, i will stop playing to :( But also this game is way to easy, even on hard mode, so i hope they put some new and hardere challenges in the next update! :)

Bisons have only slightly hard to see Variations in that Example thaat means itsa saturation thing you probally only Notice by looking closer.
Giraffes are Medium because their Pattern and color are now only in a lighter or darker tone then normal this you can also see on the First sight when you have more then one animal.
major for Wolves will not only affect the color but also even the pattern of other Animals tn the Wolves you may not see some patterns, but some shades can Vanish and the Animals can Appear in a kind of one colored tone. I think that also will be affecting the Pattern of Wilddogs or even the manes of the Lion.

Thats what i think so far :)

Share a similar opinion about this one as well. Not frustrated about the mentioned restrictions but there are some gameplay things that need improvement or new features to keep me interested.
Atm not playing as well, and cosmetic changes wouldn't be enough to convice me to return.

For the people who needed this - great and happy for them. And appreciate the effort from Frontier.
Now that uniqueness will be addressed on short notice, I hope we don't linger on "animals still don't feel unique" after this update and a next update will have a different focus.
Mentioned many times to keep expectations low (to avoid disappointment) and wait and see what the next update will (also) bring along.
