Planet Zoo - Colour Variation

Anyone else also excited about colout variations for the African Buffalo, Gemsbok, Giant Panda and Reindeer?
Im guessing the animals which live in bigger groups will get more variations than for example the bengal tiger (1 male 1 female). Because the variations are more visible in groups like on the 3 screenshots Frontier shared. Thats just a theory :p Hopefully we'll get a lot of variations anyway.

Here's to hoping Frontier will share some more info today :)

Disappointed....
Happy......
In doubt.....

It won't matter anyways.
They are not gonna change it again after this update when there are hundreds of different expectations to meet.

You can't leave it as everybody get's this fantastic update, so take it as it is.
Expressing feelings is fine btw. Nothing wrong with that.
So is it a bad thing to trying to understand what is coming and figure out if we should be happy or not? I thought this is what this forum was made for. So yes, "express feeling is fine", people should accept it.

First of all was my comment a general comment.

Other than that, I did not say it was a bad thing......

Not sure how that is related to you thinking that I think it's a bad thing to understand or get to know more about a certain update.

I only said it won't matter what the feeling about the end result will be, once the update get's released, because you got to stick with what you get and other than the usual bug fixes, I don't believe or think they will change or add anything once this update is released.

Everybody get's this update, so for the end result you'll get it won't even matter how some people might feel about it.

But yeah, express your feelings please.

I think frontier want us to express our feelings, that's why they read and reply, so thing are a little more complicated than that.
But of course you are free not to read 😌

Hello! We will not be sharing any more information on this today. We're still working on the incoming update, and will be sharing more on that when it's ready. Soon, but not today.

It's great to see how many people are excited for colour variations! It's also great to hear feedback on what people would like to see too, so thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the heads up, Chante!

I mostly keep herd animals in my zoos, so I'm definitely excited for all the herbivore variation! It would definitely be nice if, for instance, I could visually identify all individuals in a gemsbok group of 5 animals. Of course that probably won't be possible for larger groups like 35 gazelles, or with animals that don't vary a lot in appearance like African buffalos. But who knows how the new color system will work! I'd love to be surprised! :D Super excited.

@Chante Goodman would it be possible to get a official Answer regarding the Picture of the Camel I've posted? I would like to know if my first Theory is right that it is a Variation that is already in the Game or if it is like the leucistic, albinistic and melanistic Skins and it was just forgotten to add a custom Icon for it?

One can be happy or disappointed with an update, I just said that I wish I knew more since I don't if I should be among the happy ones or the disappointed ones. From those pictures I don't know if the variations problem is gonna be handled in a way a like, you know it? Good for you.

The variations "problem" is different from everyone. Personally this part of the update won't change much for me - in any variation approach. (so, good for me right?)
Happy that most issues with variations will be solved for a lot of people, those unhappy with it - just have to deal with it. We are getting Frontier's version of variation.
In the last months some people (don't know if you are one of them) have raised their expectation for variations to a ridiculous extend, we all know that much detail won't be a variation.

Somehow I think you already know that you are somewhat disappointed. The three pics show what we can expect in variation. If you don't like what you already see - your issue with variation won't be solved- but for many it will be (somewhat similar to the in-game speed change). I agree with Luuknoord on this one: "They are not gonna change it again after this update when there are hundreds of different expectations to meet".

My guess, the first posts after the update will be about: We need more variation for the wolves/why isn't insert species added ?/why didn't Frontier do my expectation of variations?

I said what I said, I'm not disappointed, I really don't know what y expect. I'll wait patiently for then to show something more. For sure I hope the variations are gonna be as many and as realistic ad they could 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ok, cool. Then I misjudged your comments - imo they were leaning towards the negative when I read them.

Always somewhat tricky reading stuff on the internet/forum etc.. :D

whats the problem with asking for more? i dont see why we shouldnt voice our concerns? isnt that the whole point of having a forum, interacting with the community and posting updates for the community? Im not sure i understand your comments that well (english is not my first language), if i misunderstood you im sorry.

I think someone checked the in-game files for albino skins for the Bactrian camel and it's not in-game. I remember a discussion post about that one. There was a camel-fanatic and he pointed out albino camels exist in RL.

Still it's curious because I never seen a topic/screenshot posted anywhere with the same content. Maybe you are the first one. But tbh, most people don't have the camel in their zoo - not among the most popular animals. :p

If it really is a Variation instead of a Mutation (hopefully because as I've mentioned it's such a common Color for them) I hope if we will also get a Mutation for them at some Point it will be something like this beautiful piebald Camel

🤔 Now I'm wondering if it would be possible to create a piebald Mutation that uses the normal Texture and then lays the white Parts over it. I think it should be possible because it wouldn't be very different from the System for the Stripes of Tigers and Zebras

That's a gorgeous camel! I do hope we perhaps get a few "rarer" mutations/color morphs along with the more common ones. I know that's a bit of a controversial topic, but seeing as they've already included albinos, leucistics, etc., I can't see why adding a few more (especially for animals that don't already have a mutation) should be an issue, though I'm not sure that's what this update is focused on.

Maybe asking for specific variations that we like is a little bit too much...
