Planet Zoo: Oceania Pack arriving 19 Sep 🐧

Don't like it that we still need to build Stairs that lead so far underground. Even though I don't think it would happen, I'd really like to be surprised with Light blocking Pieces in the Patch Notes. You can build relatively good Nocturnal Houses with the currently necessary Method, but what if you also want to add an Outdoor Enclosure for one of the Animals inside? Can't do that unless you don't mind having them connected with a Tunnel that's just way too long
Wait, I’m confused. Why do you have to put animals underground???

Huh. I’ve built a nocturnal house before and I didn’t need terrain to block out most of the light.

Given, there was still light but it was much less.
Yeah but the light you're seeing is still there. A proper nocturnal house blocks it out completely. Unfortunately Frontier hasn't managed to solve this issue. In Planet Coaster they did something for the dark coasters where the lighting would switch to 'night mode' while you were riding it I believe.

Thanks frontier for another great pack! I like all the animal choices especially the qoakka. I can’t help but to wish the rainbow lorikeet replaced the flying fox. Not that the fox is bad but there’s simply no denying it as the games current stage of life we need at least a couple species of flying birds. But that’s for another dlc down the road hopefully. Anyway can’t wait to buy the pack!

Yeah Rainbow Lorikeet was in my high hopes for this one, it seemed the stars were aligned, but a Spectacled Flying Fox is a sweet addition. Although I wonder how Planet Zoo combats Australian Bat Lyssavirus, which is a common disease in Australian bat species from Fruit Bats and Microbats

Happy about the announcement and new content. I will get the pack to support the game and Frontier, even though I personally have little interest in the animals being released.

When I read the forums I feel like a lot of players have mixed feelings. I find myself in that group. With us knowing that there may only be a few packs left, I feel like expectations are very high before each release.

I know this is not what Frontier has been doing so far, but I think it would be really good for the community if they gave us a clearer "Roadmap" (albeit a tentative one) saying what their plans are for the future of the game and, in particular, which animals they intend on releasing. Obviously there would be many caveats, but this could avoid some of the backlash we are seeing from people who wanted birds or feel like the regional / small animals are not that interesting. If we only have a few slots left, I would really appreciate more community engagement on what we are going to get. The forums are usually constructive enough to allow for that kind of discussion.

A discussion could also help regarding the price of DLC. If Frontier tells us that they can only release 15 - 20 new animals with DLC being priced at 10,00 Euros, I would not mind a scaling up of prices to around 15,00 Euros per pack if it means we can get 7 - 8 animals in one pack.

Anyway, new content is always better than no content. Keep up the good work ! And please let the new map be an island map.

if they gave us a clearer "Roadmap"
They won't. This used to get asked for a lot, and it's not Frontier's style. Plans can change too quickly, expectations might not be met. If modern "gaming" has taught these companies anything, it's that engagement with the player base is best kept to a minimum.

I'm honestly surprised this has come up again. Take into consideration development time. We have to assume that seven habitat animals or four habitat animals plus scenery is the most they can do in a three month period. If you want to increase either the number of animals or get scenery in an animal pack or whatever else, then presumably there would also be an increase in development time. So instead of four DLC packs in a year, we're down to three, or two, or one, depending on how much extra content you want per pack.

They aren't withholding content "just because".
And please let the new map be an island map.
It's not. You can see the standard temperate map background behind the main part of the zoo.

Ehh, not too hot on the roadmap...

Certain portion of community already treats Meta Wishlist as a Chore list for Frontier, imagine for example knowing for whole year that in Autumn 24' they're planning domestic pack. Place would be full of voting and demanding threads for it to be changed while we're "still on time".

Or imagine if this truly is the last year of DLC and the theme scheduled for winter is one that for certain eliminates a popular choice/s assuring everyone that they won't be seeing it officially. Place would be certainly less enjoyable for other discussion

Also, if that happened we would possibly be getting more clones than we currently have per pack, we are fine with the way the system is really balanced.

Pretty much. A roadmap of some kind is nice in theory, but it would really not work well in reality.

Two years ago we thougth Europe might be the last DLC and look what a huge amount of content we got since then. We should be happy the game is still supported and enjoy the ride. Honestly I do not really see any signs of support slowing down just yet at the moment.

I really like bats, They are actually my favorite animal.
But to add another kind of bat when there is so much other animals that you can add
I have some mixed feelings over all

The thing is that kiwis must be extremely nocturnal animals or sensible to light. So the shadow of the standard pieces isn't enough for them.
I don't know how the rest of kiwis enclosures are designed, specially in New Zealand, but I've been in the Berlin one and it's the darkest darkness I've ever seen in any zoo night house. You could barely see your own hands in front of your nose, it was as dark as a night without moon. And seeing the kiwi felt really difficult, I couldn't even make a good idea about how was the enclosure, if it had many plants or whatever.

Back in June I requested this penguin and its now going to be in the DLC :)

I remember the first outcry for "end of support" was after the africa pack.

There was a pretty large body of users that felt we "have all essential species" after the africa pack. Kinda funny in retrospect seeing the top 10 species list now.
