🐾 Planet Zoo: Southeast Asia Animal Pack arriving 30 March 🐾

I’m also pretty sure we’ll have an Ā« African Ā» Animal pack for this summer. All DLC have a common point with the season when they release. However, it’s still so strange to don’t have an african rhino specie (it was my first surprise on the vanilla game release). So indeed, I’m 95% convinced we’ll get this pack next !

Personnaly, I would love Meerkat (of course), Secretary Bird (a classic), Saddle-billed Stork (look at this beauty, not so known bird and could increase a bit the number of Ā« non flying Ā» the birds ingame), White Rhinoceros (so beautiful with its long horn), Cape Porcupine (could be so original !!) Fennec Fox (cutie), Baboon (imo we have enough primates, but it’s hard to make an african DLC without one primate specie) and one Gecko specie (Gold Dust Day Gecko is one of the cutest, but there is also African Fat-Tailed Gecko or Common Flat-Tailed Geck... There is the choice and there are sooo cute. It could, personnaly, increase my vivarium interest. But Chameleon specie could also be cool). I think there are enough felines in the game IMO. But why not Serval.

Looking at the Planet Coaster timeline of 2 1/2 years (Jun 2016 launch to last Ghostbusters DLC in Nov 2019) and the current Planet Zoo timeline (launch Nov 2019) there could be content produced until mid 2022 if it follows support for the same length of time. This means potentially another 5 DLC’s from here.

Obviously it may not follow this pattern and it may be dependent on demand - if people continue to purchase at the levels that make it profitable for Frontier support may last longer, if sales drop off support may end sooner. Therefore, if we want more content the best thing we can all do as fans of the game is to support the new content. This means I personally buy all packs even if I’m more drawn to some than others - it’s about the bigger picture.

With this in mind what are your 5 packs you would love to see?

Mine are -
Summer 2021 - European Pack (building pieces/animals)
Autumn 2021 - African Animal Pack
Christmas 2021 - Aviary Pack (building pieces/animals)
Spring 2022 - Aquatic 2 Animal Pack
Summer 2022 - North American Pack (building pieces/animals)

I really can't wait for an african pack! I hope it will be just as good as this Asian pack!

Genenuk, Crested Porcupine, Black Rhinoceros/White Rhinoceros, Secretary Bird, Meerkat, Fossa, Red River Hog, Shoebill, Ratel and Serval/Caracal. Also Chameleon, the Panther Chameleon!

Of course I hope frontier doesn't come up the simple, boring route, giving us Leopard, Another Lion, Another Giraffe, Nile Crocodile, Gnu and other such copy-animals in a pack, the horror. Spare for the Panther, which I know is necessary evil to get, leave the Lion, Giraffe, Nile Crocodile (which can use the Saltwater Model easily) Zebra and Gnu sub-species to Mod-people, or give them as EXTRA-SKINS, free next to the 8 totally new animals we gonna get.

I don't believe neither think Frontier will increase the amount of DLCs per year.

Year 1 had the Arctic, South America and Australian DLC
Year 2: Aquatic, South East Asia + "unknown"
Year 3: 3 more DLCs

Being the African DLC one of the most "wanted", I think it will be an "only animal" DLC and Frontier will save it to the last one, closing or finishing PZ development.

My prediction, or what I think will happen, August = European DLC (standard DLC). December = Birds (no idea, whether standard or animal only). March = North America (or maybe just American, to include some missing south America animals) (could be either standard or only animal), and then to finish, Africa (animal only).

Ah that makes sense... 3 per year so that means we potentially have 3 DLC left unless they continue developing longer than PlanCo.

Fingers crossed there’s still an appetite from the community.

I gotta say I’m predicting Africa will be the next pack we get. Goes well with summer not to mention I think the pack will be another 8 animal pack plus it’s a way for frontier to push out some more animals including the 2 most requested animals meerkat and possibly white rhino. @Birini hopefully we’ll get at least 3yrs support. Honestly I’m hoping a dedicated team will cover the game for 5 full yrs probably wishful thinking since there will be new titles eventually like probable sequels for PC and JWE. I’m all for PC 2 but JWE2 doesn’t really matter to me since PK is on its way.
If not for the meerkat and an African Rhino, I'd personally be content to wait for an African pack until next year, even late next year - like maybe the last pack they'd put out. But those two are essential and critical, if only there was some other way they could release them.

At any rate not to get too off topic, while this was just represented as South East Asia, I do think that most likely there won't be any other Asian themed packs, especially if the game just goes through next year. If we get into content still be giving past 2022, I'd say maybe that's more likely. But even without my personal piacks of Amur Leopard, Gibbon and Asian Small Clawed Otter, I'd rather they not do another Asian pack - maybe those could be release some other way.

I don't understand why they just don't release 2 animals each month, just ask reasonable prices for them, and buy them separate, in that way we could gain all popular/special animals eventually.
I definitely support this. I've said just do 3 packs a year (though that was based on the 4+1 pack animal model) , but also put up an animal a month to purchase separately. Having 2 animals a month but no pack would be much the same. The animals released separately would not have to fit any kind of theme or relation either.

I think it's a lot easier to do packs in terms of marketing. The community is really hyped every time, I think monthly releases would go relatively unnoticed and create less engagement. And maybe people would be more selective when buying them. Like I don't think I would buy a standalone dingo (for example), just because they aren't a favourite, but I happily bought the whole Australia Pack because I wanted other parts of it. I would fear that people would only buy their absolute favourites if there were single animal DLCs.

Who said the packs needed to stop? I meant, AFTER the last few packs they could do standalone animals, like Maned Wolves, Platypus and all other animals that didn't fit into the packs.
Ah okay, I misunderstood your comment. Sorry. Packs and individual animals are also fine with me for sure. I'll probably buy just about anything they put out for this game, unless it's spiders and centipedes oriented.

Bitten by those?

I mean, you would pick mosquito's and ticks over spiders and centipedes? :p

I would. it's a phobia. I have been bitten by a wolf spider though, not poisonous of course but still not fun. FWIW I realize mosquitos kill many many more people yearly than spiders, but phobias aren't always rational.

Didn't get that either. In this case, I agree with you and would like that option, too :)

That's the irony. I have a phobia of the large, Tarantula spiders that can't hurt me, but not afraid if Black Widows or Brown Recluse (which I've seen often in the woods). I can only tolerate a Tarantula if it's colorful, like the Gooty Sapphire
