Personally I think the polar bear enclosure size should have stayed the same. If you really must please the creative builders then maybe a option in sandbox to have enclosure needs disabled for all animals would be a better choice.

The option to build a big habitat is still available to you, we've simply changed it so that players are more comfortable with the minimum requirements. Feel free to build a habitat as big and luxurious as you like!

Yeah but I liked the idea to make them really difficult to have and you really need to think about it if you want them.

Also I’m having troubles ordering on the frontier store. I haven’t checked it today so maybe it changed already but yesterday and the day before I couldn’t order it. I described it in this thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/cant-order-the-artic-dlc.533399/

That option for sandbox is already there.

Its only a bit bugged because all main animal wellfare stats are green. But when a animal is cold for instance. The sub categorie for temperature stays at 0%.

For that reason you still get protestors for low wellfare and alerts (which can be turned off thankfully).

But these yelling guys with the signs just wont go away 😬

Un grand merci à vous !! Bon travail sur ce pack et les Mise à Jour. Sinon j'aimerais bien que Frontier Development inclus les animateurs dans Planet Zoo afin de ne pas que avoir des haut parleurs (robot) qui parle.

After this patch i now have a bug where i get protestors in my zoo that are protesting because my ring tailed lemurs suppose to have low wellfare while their wellfare is full even have the sandbox option for full wellfare on so i shouldt have these protestors, they wont go away either. Hope this gets fixed. Also we really need sandbox options for No Litter, No Damage to ATM etc. And a No Protestors option

Guest Education Rating is still not working, i have so much education yet the rating remains 0 stars, also does the inspector never come in sandbox mode or does one of the settings turn him off and if so which setting.

Edit: Guest education rating finally started working but the inspector doesnt show up though, if its turned off by something i like to know what. Maybe we can get a seperate option to turn the inspector on or off ?

You skipped over the part where I explained that happiness also declines over time, period, regardless of all of those things.

Perhaps you've made your zoo sprawl too much? Or lines are too long at all your shops so people spend too much time standing in line. In a group of ~5 visitors, if each of them wants to stop at a different drink and food shop, they can literally spend their entire visit just standing in lines, which will mean they leave with super low happiness even if every other bar is green.
We are just going to have to agree to disagree on this one :) I don't have long lines, my zoo is not sprawling I have adequate transportation set up that is used, and I can pull up a second franchise zoo that I have with the same stats or less and show happy vs just yellow. I reported it as a bug it's up to devs to decide if it is or not. I don't know the inner formulas/mechanics of the game only they do, so if i see something that seems to be an anomaly I'm going to report it. Thanks for your suggestions I'm sure they will help others who may have the issues you mentioned.

Anyone else having the bug where the large cage feeder for giraffes appears empty yet the giraffes eat from them because there is food in them, some other food items like certain trays have the same bug. You see no food but there is food in them or on them

I was finding it annoying having so many animal escapes, so thank you for this quick fix.

As for the Polar Bear space - thank you for the ofix, even if it doesn't affect me right now. Still planning on getting DLC, just may beed to wait until after Christmas. But I do find that the majority of my habitats are much larger than the space needed.

My animals are still escaping
I just followed one that is constantly escaping and watched him walk through a brick wall.

I never had this issue before patch 1.1 :(

I think the thing with the polar bears is that there is a difference between a zoo and a wildlife sanctuary.

Zoos do their best. The AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquaria/Aquariums) specifically says that zoos will never be able to provide a perfect amount of space in captivity for wild animals. The way I see it, either all animals have absurd habitat space requirements or they are all realistic. You can't pick and choose based on the day's hot-topic (which currently polar bears are, due to climate change). Sure, in a perfect world they'd have 12000m3 to roam around in, but in a zoo 6000m3 is good enough if they are properly enriched.

Edit: On that subject, fingers crossed we get some proper underwater animations soon. I don't think we need a marine DLC to implement it, as plenty of animals in-game are already proficient divers, such as elephants, tigers, and bears. That isn't to say I think Frontier should rush into it, but it would be nice to know if this is something they're looking into.

  • Thanks for the feedback on the habitat and welfare requirements for the Polar Bears. We will be amending the requirements to 1/2 of their original size. Whilst we strongly believe in the reasons behind the original numbers, we completely understand that some players, in particular our creative builders, would face too many challenges in keeping these amazing animals happy in their zoos. The new numbers will be both more in line with other large animals in Planet Zoo, and in keeping with the overall conservation message of Planet Zoo - whilst also maintaining a gameplay challenge for those who don't want it to feel too easy to run a successful zoo.
In terms of the original numbers, we did a lot of research into Polar Bear habitats – they are majestic animals that require a wide snowy area to roam, and if they have anything less, they tend to display stress behaviours and in general do not cope well with being in zoos. Planet Zoo is at its core about animal welfare, so we felt giving the Polar Bear the high space and water requirements it so desperately needs to thrive, was in keeping with the game’s main message.
Unfortunately even the new figures are not in line with other large mammals in the game. Neither does it keep the overall conservation/welfare message of Planet Zoo. It actually makes me question the welfare of all the other animals. Sadly, there is a clear favoritism here. Seeing stuff like this in official responses is quite worrisome:

"they are majestic animals that require "

Aren't all animals in the game majestic? Looks like it is not for the developers. I was planning to write something constructive but I am really disappointed in this double standard..

You can't pick and choose based on the day's hot-topic (which currently polar bears are, due to climate change)
This is a very good point! This isn't a social media outlet that you upvote based on the "day's hot-topic". That makes such decisions subjective when animal welfare should be taken objectively for all animals. Otherwise you'll only organize anti-orca movements yet happily go watch a dolphin show calling yourself an activist...

I really really hope Frontier takes this more seriously and professionally.

I don't think Frontier is being deliberately obtuse about it, and I think they have good intentions, I just think they're a little misguided.

For one thing, you can't say "polar bears need x amount of space to be truly happy in captivity" because very few real zoos are able to achieve that. To me, it kind of s on real-life zoos that are doing important work with polar bears and other animals, and working with other zoos and the AZA to try and ensure their polar bears have the best possible care. Polars bears are at an extremely high risk, because of climate change, and we need zoos to ensure they survive they pull through on the other side. As it stands, the space requirements for the polar bear in Planet Zoo send the wrong message. We don't want a generation of people going to zoos and thinking "these polar bears would be better off in the melting Arctic than they are here" because they might have heard the wrong message.

Halving the requirement feels like a weak compromise, but I'll take it.

Edit: Huh, the forum automatically censors some curse words. In case anyone's wondering, I'm an adult who would never use the word "poopoo" under any circumstance (why is it covering the actual word with toddler-speak instead of just, I don't know, hiding it?).

Oh, as an aside, the most important thing in animal husbandry is variation, not necessarily space. Many zoos are now building polar bear enclosures with a variety of terrain types to compensate for the lack of space. Polar bears don't only live on the icecaps, after all, but venture into the taiga forests, the rocky shores, the tundra grasslands, and so on.

So I think there's two changes that need to be made here I think, with regards to the Arctic Pack as a whole;

- The polar bear's continent needs to be changed from "Arctic" (a not-real continent) to Europe, Asia, and North America, with appropriate tundra/taiga foliage applied.
- The timber wolf needs to be given a specific subspecies (preferably the Eurasian wolf, IMO) to bring it in line with other animals in game and to make better sense of the presence of both the species Canis lupus and the subspecies Canis lupus arctos.

Thanks team, hopefully in next patch we get this annoying message problem fixed with education screens and education speakers being incorrectly placed. Since patch 1.1.0 every speaker that is like below ground gets flagged as incorrectly placed and every screen gets flagged as incorrectly placed when for example not close enough to the habitat of the animal listed in the screen. So all our zoo's that had like little learning areas where we placed screens with all kinds of animals we have in the zoo are now flagged as incorrectly placed just because they are not at the habitat. Please change this back as it was before patch 1.1.0
This confused me a bit, this isnt a NEW thing that these screens etc arent working properly, you are just now getting messages to tell you they are not working properly. Not sure what needs fixing other than the placement of education in your zoo. After the patch I had about 30 notifications, so I went around and fixed them all, now guess what, i dont get notifications anymore. But sure if you want to turn them off and leave your education setup broken, go for it. Please dont come back with "it was working before the patch" it wasnt, you just didnt know it wasnt.
