🐧 Planet Zoo: Update 1.4.1 and Aquatic Pack out now! 🐧

This looks like an amazing DLC and I've already downloaded it. Unfortunately, ever since the free update that came with the Australia DLC I've been experiencing constant crashing, about every 5 minutes or so, often less. I was really hoping that this update would fix the problem but it's almost looking worse. Unless you have the patience of a saint, the game is basically impossible to play. I'm so sad at how extremely frustrating and disappointing this has been :(

Crashing seems to be relatively isolated to a few people. Doesn't make it any less annoying for you of course but I sometimes wonder about computer specs and the like and whether there is a hardware issue at hand. I'm not a tech guy though so I don't know much. Have you done the whole issue tracker thing or sent your save file to Frotier?

I just sent my save file to frontier, as it indeed does seem like the educators all get stuck in the staff room once they go in there. I also get a message occasionally that a keeper can't reach a habitat, hinting at them sometimes being stuck too. The keeper message does disappear after a bit so i think they get unstuck after a bit?

I can't save the new challenge zoo unless I've bought the Australian DLC. Is this intentional? The challenge zoo is advertised as part of the aquatic DLC so I shouldn't have to buy extra DLC just to play it fully

We listed this as as Known Issue at the end of the Update Notes:
Known Issues
  • Plant assets will disappear when placed in water if it has been duplicated from an existing asset.
  • In Franchise and Challenge modes the new "Thick Glass" barrier type is not available to research if you load a save where the barrier research is already fully completed. The new "Thick Glass" barrier type is available in sandbox mode.

We're working on fixing it!
A user on the Steam forum suggested that starting a new zoo in the franchise lets you research the barrier. Haven't tested it myself though.

In the coming patch if we cant get a sandbox option to turn this water regulator off then please update the Animal Wellfare option so if we disable animal wellfare that we dont get constant alert messages about the animal not being in their correct temperature this option would be fine with me as alternative, and please we keep asking can we please get a no litter option.

Not intentional, the team is looking into it now! We think we accidentally placed an Australian Pack scenery piece in there, so we're combing through the zoo now and we'll patch it out in the next update. Thanks for letting us know!

Yes, so if you load into a zoo where you haven't done barrier research, you'll be a-okay. If you load into one where you've fully completed barrier research, it won't work. The team are still looking into it :)
But research within the same franchise carries over? So for an existing one you'd be screwed until a patch is dropped. What the user found is that creating a new zoo within the same franchise enables the last tier of barrier research, which now I have tested myself and it works.

I only loaded the second zoo of my franchise (build in the spring of 2020). All barriers were researched in the first zoo of the franchise (from November 2019). I have the option to research a new barrier, but haven't done it yet. This bug only affects the zoo were the barriers were researched in th first place, like Change said

The part that doesn't work is assigning a mechanic to the research.

Hi Chante, not sure if it is the cause, but I saw a bubble maker enrichment in the penguin habitat there in the Aquatic pack scenario, and as the bubbler maker was part of the Australia DLC, perhaps that is the item you are looking for?

Yesterday evening had the chance of playing this update. And I must say, EXCELLENT WORK!

It's really great watching the animals swim and dive into the water.
One of the few times I couldn't stop watching everything happening on my screen. Just great!

Scenery pieces are also amazing. Keep it up!

I do love the updates, but indeed quite a lot of bugs so far I've encountered, most of which have already been mentioned here.

1) The Educators do indeed get stuck in the staff rooms and you can't select them for on or other reason.
2) I have staff and guests that get stuck on random spots on the path where they spin in circles for eternity until you remove them by hand.
3) The animal information screen doesn't show half of the time when you click on the animals, most annoying bug so far
4) Seals swimming through their barriers and escaping their habitat scaring all the visitors, happened 3 times at different locations in their habitat during a 2-3 hour playthrough
5) lemurs flying through their habitat (alhought this seems to happen even before the update)
6) The new barrier indeed not being able to be researched in franchise zoos
7) murky water when viewed through glass, the new water looks stunning but it is almost like when viewed through glass barriers that it is still the old version of water.

But besides all that, I really loved to update and DLC. Bugs were to be expected after such a large update, I really love the new diving animations and animals. :)

Penguins escape through the barriers too, but a lot of animals do escape through the barriers and it got worse after this update, as for the educatiors the main problem is they leave too late to get to the animal talk point what needs to be done is make the educator leave sooner to get there and have him run to be on time instead of walking like he has all the time in the world. Only way it works now is if we have staff rooms around the corner of every education point which is crazy.

Also this water regulator has become an annoyance for me, as animals from previous packs now also need them and ireally dont want to change my entire zoo since i use thesandbox options so we dont need power or water pumps, we really do need an option so we dont need the regulator in sandboe mode. Getting spammed with the alerts from like my polar bears and reinders not having correct water temp

He must have had an old build because glass isperfectly clear, beautifull clear view underwater so no idea what build he was using but its definitely clear on the latest build
This is actually several people reporting this now, there is someone even posting about this in the Feedback section of the forums. I would love to see what your underwater tanks look like...many of us are struggling with the murky view!

I do also have this Problem with the Underwater Viewing Area of my Seal Enclosure. I hope they will fix it or does someone maybe has Tips how to make the Animal Visibility trough the Glass better?
