Planet Zoo | ZooKeepers Animal Pack Announcement

You know the the ingame gibbons use chimpanzee climbing animations when they are climbing trees right? It will be the same with the Sifaka, they will jump on ground and use the lemur climbing animation when climbing trees, logs. But if you want to dramatize it and say they will not jump at all be my guest.
I mean it would be amazing if they also climb like a real sifaka but did we really expect this? Apparently Frontier couldn't or didn't want to change the way the gibbons climb completely. The gibbons got their special animations but they didn't overhaul the complete climbing animations for these.
So, do you all really expect to do this now for one last animal?

So, if the sifakas do their jumps on the ground, I'd be happy. Yes, it will look weird and wrong seeing them climbing like a ring-tailed lemur but so so do the siamangs when they climb like a chimpanzee and not brachiate.
The screenshot still looks a bit odd but I guess it's the perspective.

Honestly, the problem with the Sifaka is that it was simply way too ambitious of an animal to do, and Frontier probably didn't have the resources to do it justice.
And this begs the question: why the Sifaka in the first place?
Because it was hald baked material they had lying around in some folder for scraped content of the tropical pack. This whole pack is made out of pieces from last year's packs. A shame that the tree kangaroo didn't make this second cut either.

The Facebook post doesn’t even include the word “Sifaka” at all.
This has to be the weirdest post they ever put out...

They don't even mention the name of the animal, it mentions "swinging", which isn't what a Sifaka does at all, and... I hate to be that guy BUT. Minor spelling mistake ("much if their life")

welp, this screenshot in particular point me toward two directions:

the first one is basing in the idea that the model and animations are very good and looks like the actual sifaka and that Frontier marketing indeed sucks for making this screenshot in particular.

And the second one is that revealing the sifaka today with this screenshot is quite a genious move by the marketing team, as nobody can say for sure how it will be in game, despite it's probably being bad, like imagine if they dropped a screenshot for this guy similar from the Markhor, bear and baboon, people would get upset that the ingame thing don't make justice for the actual animal, and so they decided to drop this one, which don't give much of the quality.

Either way, youtubers video on this pack will probably drop tomorrow, so we can see what this guy will actually looks like.

what is wrong with wanting one of the most common groups of animals in zoos to be represented by more than 1 member, meanwhile we have 9/7 big cats and 9/8 bears

No like they're actually gonna get the idea you guys want NWM over flying birds and make Planet zoo 2 be about NWMs...

Meanwhile the Himalayan Brown Bear looks VERY similar to the grizzly, and it really shouldn't. Even just the colour should be very different, but they're pretty much both equally brown. Both live in colder mountainous environments, and while they are from different continents we already had an Asian bear from colder environments... Which also happens to look very distinct compared to the grizzly. (I still don't understand why it's the FORMOSAN Black Bear specifically but oh well.)
It’s very funny to see people care so deeply about subspecies for panthers and brown bears while also wondering why Asian black bears weren’t represented with their whole species.

“Accessories” or not, that doesn’t change the fact that they’re still ridiculously common. I’ve heard the same things said about antelope many times in real life as “boring accessories”, yet nobody is arguing that they’re unimportant and we get loads of them. I don’t know what zoos your going to that have fourteen cats and only five birds that aren’t penguins or paleognathes, but I’d really love to hear them!

My local zoo back home has an entire bird house, and an entire section dedicated to waterfowl alone. I’ve been to plenty of other zoos where this is the case as well, and even where they aren’t, birds serve as important supporting exhibits. I’m spoiled for choice on ungulates and carnivorans, yet I’ve been stuck building the same peafowl aviaries since launch. Zoos aren’t just one big hitter after another.

I apologize if I’m sounding rude. If you don’t like birds and have no desire for them, it’s okay to admit that, but I’m getting really sick of people just making up junk to justify stuff like this.
PREACH QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!! BIRD GANG RISE UP RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
For comparison, here are some holdings of some common “accessories” suggested for the game compared to our last three four cats:

Caracal (165 holdings)
African Leopard (12 holdings…)
Pallas Cat (68 holdings)
Edit, forgot the sand cat existed and jumped back to the caracal, but 50 holdings

And some recent non-domestic ungulates:
Markhor (66 holdings)
Kirk’s Dik Dik (88 holdings)
Takin (80 holdings)
Dama Gazelle (37 holdings)
Somali Wild Ass (53 holdings)
Oh and let’s not forget the saiga that was way more important than any bird with its amazing one holding

Mandarin Duck (a whopping 618 holdings!)
Helmeted Guineafowl (250 for the non-subspecies specific status alone)
Scarlet Ibis (357 holdings)
Common Mallard (361 holdings)
Black Swan (549 holdings!)
White faced whistling duck (254 holdings)
Eastern grey crowned crane (232 holdings)
Wood Duck (454 holdings)
Himalayan Monal (166 holdings)
Golden Pheasant (Another insane 695 holdings!!)
Victoria crowned pigeon (170 holdings)
Nēnē (154 holdings)
Burrowing Owl (170 holdings)

I could keep going for a long time, but I think you should be able to get the point. Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I’m not saying any of those mammals were bad additions, but it goes to show that the game has an issue in priorities.
WOW, what a painful way of reminding me that Frontier is actively avoiding more common animals because they don’t like birds or something.

Yes I’m still bitter about the lack of official birds, seeing the amazing mod work actually makes me more upset knowing the community is doing God’s work but Frontier won’t.

Also, I’m not gonna make a separate post for this. But if Frontier seriously made that sifaka without any special animations and just slapped it on the rig I’m gonna be upset. We got no new NWM or bird for this.

Based on a picture we can't fully judge how the full set of animations will be. I'll buy the argument that the pic also has a bad angle, so it's also early to judge the (potentially short) length of the tail.

This being said, let's focus on what we can see for sure:
-The sifaka is playing an animation that does not happen in real life or, at least, I've never seen it myself.
-The angle can be as bad as you want but those hind legs don't have the right proportion.
-The nasal bridge has a weird shape.
-The hind feet are wrong. Too small, thumb not prominent enough and too close to the other fingers.

In essence i agree, but the one picture is already showing wrong animations, so i can definitely understand people who were really looking forward to this animal being bummed.
It's climbing a branch, I'm sorry but I didn't notice anyone mentioning vertical jumping on branches and climbing prior today. If they did, I would tell them to lower their expectations.

I thought we were all on the same page, when we said leaping, it meant the way they leap on the ground instead of walking on all fours. And we don't know that they don't.

I am one of those people who were looking forward for Sifaka, and I will be bummed if it turns out just another Lemur clone, but there's absolutely no reason for me to be mad now, only to go "Oh ok nvm" when the reveal drops.

Look at the Baboon discourse "It looks blocky in concept art, they ruined it" to "It looks great after all, thx Frontier" when trailer drops, to "actually hair isn't all that good" when Screencaps from trailer were analyzed, to "Omg it looks way better on Shreenshots" when they dropped later.

Markhor is either best caprine they made so far, or is looking worse than a mod.

We must be either hype about best models ever or mourn how they ruined another animal. All before we can have a proper look.

I'm just asking to "take it down a few notches". There will be plenty of time to be excited and to be angry
