Played for an hour

OK, I stuck with it. Turns out I had to add another power station. Now I need to work out how to recall my one and only expedition team who are doggedly digging at a site with "insufficient fossil capacity" so that I can send them somewhere else. Come to that, I can't seem to find any way to hire extra teams.

Is your fossil building or whatever it's called full of fossils? Go extract some DNA or sell some then the extraction team will return.

I take it all back. I've just looked at the clock and a whole afternoon's gone by withoug my noticing it :)

↑ This. Was up all night looking for "just one more turn" to work on that next thing. Looked up and the sun was coming up. [knocked out]

From the last hour I played I'm not blown away.

No guest interaction, I was amazed I could just ask 20-25$ for a 4$ dish and profit would just keep going up. As if the guests have no qualms being extorted out of their money. In JPOG I usually just upped the price by 2-4 from what it cost me. Otherwise I'd have complaint after complaint.

I didn't even feel any connection to my guests. In JPOG when there's a guest with a complaint I'm actually annoyed but here's just...Meh. Who cares if Mr. and Ms. Namelss get eaten by a dinosaur. But Craig the Dinogeek with his balloon? Dam...

Camera is rubbish as well, buttons seems to stick for some weird reason. You just tap A and it just sticks. Same with wanting to put buildings down, it just runs around in circles till you hit the button again. Other times it's just...not responding to mouse input.

Tutorial is annoying, anytime someone is talking you can't interact with buildings and in obvious gaming, they start talking right when you want to interact with something.

Research and fossil hunt are just...hardly noticeable when finished. Atleast in JPOG you were reminded that fossil teams were standing idly by or that you haven't put in a new thing for research.

Placing buildings down is just...atrocious, hardly any room for it even when you flatten the ground. Seems also there's a limit to the space you can actually use aside from what is shown.

Not being able to skip all the hatchings and having to manually hatch them feels a bit...over the top and forced. I rather just queue them up and have them walk out when they're ready then to forget about it, only to realise my dinosaur still hasn't shown up and manually releasing it.

It's slow, with no way of speeding it up which would make the game feel more....alive. You get messages from those division heads and such but they're just pointless messages. I did get a few financial messages which was ok but there's hardly any data being given to you. You really have to dig for it.

Buttons are just....hardly responsive at times.

Jeep driving is just okay I suppose.

Dino's look nice though hardly any interaction between them.

Money is something you do have to be carefull with. If you start plonking buildings down you're gonna run out really quick.

Dino viability seems neatly balanced, atleast until you dump 3x30% viability increase on top of it. I've gone for 7 Struthiomimus and 3 of 'm died in the incubation period. Also lost 1 out of 4 Triceratops.

Research tree looks decent enough. Though I really had to struggle to find all the guest related tech.

That's it. Done. It's planet Coaster all over again. Far too awkward UI and not enough help in using it. I can't even wotk out how to hook up power to my ranger station.

Enjoy your fifty quid, FD.

Really? You build a substation, from the power section, next to the ranger station and then use the automatically connecting power lines to connect to a previously built power line. The AI is extremely easy to navigate. And I've only played for about 45 minutes last night when I was half asleep.

What crashes and glitches? I agree about the power thing, though.

Crashes? Glitches?....No! Game is running well, I'v been on it all day. Managed to unlock the 2nd island, but I'm staying put on the first for the time being. Iv never played Planet Coaster, so still learning.

btw, the power can be a bummer though, I most have spent 15-20 mins trying to get power to a couple of buildings I built. Turned out I hadn't connected the path to the buildings...Doh!

Good game though, thoroughly enjoying it.

I couldn’t figure out the power either last night, but it was so late and I was exhausted. Did a little reading up on it and doesn’t seem that difficult, just different. When I was first choosing either science, entertainment or security, I couldn’t seem to go back and check what they all had to offer. Once I picked I was stuck with my choice. Going to be playing today fresh so can’t wait!

Any tips on starting out on the 3rd Island? I've not figured it out yet beyond having to sell a heap of stuff I don't want to sell :p

Sell the innovation centre and a few shops, finish building the pen with low fences and churn out a few struthiomimus, that should get you in the green, do some contracts for extra cash to get your main infrastructure up and running and pop out a couple of trikes, it's a lot of waiting around for the cash to come in at first but once you're making a profit you can't lose.

Not too sure how you can say that. Steam reviews are very good, most official reviews are good, most people seem to really like the game from what I can tell, with a very few people that are disapointed. It looks like an overwhelming success so far.

These are just my observations so far.

It's doing well with the Steam reviews, 1,448 reviews so far and it's very positive. Wolfenstein II was mixed on it's first day. I haven't experienced a single crash or glitch. The game has been running smooth for me.

81% on steam is good and most reviews are 8/10
