Player Faction Help

My group is trying to get a player faction put into the game and are confused with the instructions on the application. The field says that the home systems we choose require the same government as our player faction, but I don't understand what that means. The government changes according to who the controlling faction is. Can someone explain this to me?

Thanks

It just means you can't put a Fed Faction into an Empire System, and vice versa.

It sort of explains why there are so many 'indy' Player Groups, you can put an indy in just about anywhere.

It's a bit more confusing these days, because some teams have really pushed the expansion mechanic.
There are a lot of once-Fed systems that have turned to the Alliance.

My advice is to join a large group rather than start another tiny new one.
Or better yet adopt an ethos (like the communists) or an existing minor faction.

There are so many traps to fall foul of in choosing a home system.
Do you understand who is in your area?

If you camp in a place that other people care about you're going to face an uphill battle.

So that's the reason I say join an existing group. If you don't understand the implications of your choice, you can end up with nothing.

I asked Brett this question recently and he told me it means that the faction you are applying to have inserted in that system must match the system's ruling faction allegiance (but not necessarily government type.) In other words, if you want to be an Alliance faction, the controlling faction in that system will have to be Alliance-affiliated. But he said the government type doesn't matter - so if you're applying to be a corporation, it's okay if the ruling faction is a democracy. Unfortunately, independent factions aren't exempt from this requirement.

This apparently wasn't always the case, but is how things are now, which is frustrating given that the turnaround time for a PMF lately is quite a few months! DNA-Decay does have it right - you might be better off just joining an existing group and sparing yourself the stress. It's definitely not for the faint of heart.

There are more than 500 Player Minor Factions that exist in only one system.

Even the big groups have player attrition and need fresh talent to come on board.
Founding a new faction is like re-inventing the wheel.

There is so much to learn, so many mistakes to make, so much patience.
