Playing Elite with Google Cardboard

Streaming on Android for google cardboard

Hey everybody,
I'm looking around about the VR on Android and I'm wondering, which stream app is the best to enjoy the game with a google cardboard.
I've got presently an LG G3 as a phone and for the video on my PC I've got an AMD Radeon HD 6850
I've tried Trinus Gyre but it's unplayable (low fps) and not really pretty on the goggles.

What are you using and how it looks to you ?

From what I've read the VR requires a really high powered GPU. I think you'll need to upgrade your video card. The reason is that the VR is pushing essentially 2 1080p monitors... Sorry mate

i've had some decent luck with splashtop, there is a pc component and a phone client, you need to play around with rez and options, and it has to run in windowed mode apparently

Galaxy Alpha

Can anyone point me in the right direction for using my galaxy Alpha with my ColorCross? I can get the streaming and everything working, my main issue is that I cannot find a resolution that makes anything readable on the galaxy Alpha in the colorcross. I have an ATI HD 5750 and ran through creating a custom resolution of 720 x 1280 in the registry as that's the phone screen resolution, however I do not have that option in my display settings or the elite graphics config. Logic tells me that the game should actually need 1280 x 720 due to the orientation of the phone to match the game but using that in game with SBS is still awful. I have used Kainy and get really good video streaming response rates but there's no image correction. I have also used trinus in both fake 3d and non fake 3d. I have tweaked the focal points in Elite but I cannot get it readable, which makes the game unplayable in VR. I am starting to think that my phone is simply too small for this....

Intugame VR

If you want to play the game with Google Cardboard you can try 'Intugame VR' from Google Play. It is free to download.
I would be happy to receive any feedback for it.

You can try Intugame VR. It is faster than trinus.

Hows the latency with it? I've got a Note 4, so I can tether it.

I've tried using Limelight, but with wifi the latency is anywhere from 10-15 seconds.

Limelight doesn't see Elite in Nvidia Experience on the PC, but it is visible on the PC in Nvidia Experience. Do you have any idea how to add manually Elite to Limelight on Note4?

Trying to remember how I did it...I think you add it in Experience under Gamestream. You'll see a window there to add the location of the launcher or program and it should then show in Limelight.

Is this a streaming program or head tracking or both? I've got the Archos VR headset (like the Colorcross) and a really good streaming program (KinoConsole). However, I'm having most difficulty with headtracking. Face recognition isn't great - especially with the headset on. I have an Android program called 'headtracker' but I just can't get it set up correctly. It seems to shoot off in random directions for no apparent reason. It's a shame because head tracking in android cardboard apps is excellent and I'd be more than happy with that kind of head tracking quality if I could get it working in ED. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be that easy.

So far no luck. The server application crashes and for the brief time it is stable it will not connect with the phone. The phone see's the server but immediately gives a disconnected message upon trying to connect.

Ok so I've downloaded Intugame VR. It appears to be a Trinus Gyre type program that should stream the computer screen and also add headtracking. Head tracking is done via gyro control of the mouse and seems to work very well.

Unfortunately the screen streaming is a bit volatile. I need to disable my second monitor and run all programs in windowed mode which is not ideal for me. Even then, connection is constantly being lost. It's a nice idea though and the interface is good.

Please add the ability to run the program in the back ground. I use KinoConsole to stream the PC screen and it's really good, I'm just short of a good head tracking function. It seems all the other gyro mice require you to constantly touch the screen. If I could use the headtracking of Intugame with the streaming of KinoConsole it would be awesome.

you just set it in and don't connect the usb port, so it not really hooked in. or if you have root can kill the gear vr service basically

Ah I thought you might be able to do that. I saw on a video that the usb connector was on a hinge so it could maybe be moved out of the way. So I guess you don't get the great GVR gyros but you still have lens correction and probably a better field of view than the Archos/colorcross. What are you using for head tracking?

Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can shed some light on a lil problem I have. So yesterday my colorcross arrived and I had a play with the google cardboard demos, then today I was off work so got to sit down this afternoon and get things sorted. Long story short I had Trinus Gyre working fine using wireless connection on phone to my wired PC with freetrack doing it's thing. Went off to cook dinner and eat with the family, when I came back and fired it all up again I have a glitch where the POV keeps flickering back to centre so if I look at one of the data displays it keeps opening and closing and I start to feel really sick. I have fake 3d off (tried it on and no diff). Any input would be good thanks in advance guys.

Oh I am using a Nexus 6 just fits in the colorcross but when working the image is very cool I wonder if I can get it's full resolution though.

Head tracking with Google Cardboard

Ok so I have GC working pretty nicely apart from the POV flickering between where I am looking and the centre view, so I think I will give IR head tracking a go. I was wondering if anyone else has tried using 'cardboard with IR head tracking and if there were any recommendations about a good camera, I have an old PS 3 camera as well as one for using on my PC I was going to start with the PS3 cam (looks like I will have to remove the IR filter first) and see how I go from there.

Can anyone confirm if a nexus 7 will fit in a colorcross? Or what the best 7" device for a colorcross would be? My Galaxy Alpha is just too small to see things properly. :-(
