Playing, not grinding...

It seems to me that planet prospecting is yielding much more in general. Granted, I went to one random planet one time since the update and so it is a sample size of one.

I found rocks fairly quickly (not the 30 mins to an hour like usual) and I actually did see rare elements more often than the 3 hours just to find 3 that it used to take. Again, sample size of one.

That being said, I am also free (and do/did) collect everything because I can always trade what I don't want for what I do.

I am happy with that.

I like a lot of the aspects of the game since 3.0.

Indeed. I'm not a SRV fan, although I'm finding It seems less easily damaged and drives a bit better??

I went for a drive last night and nodes were enjoyably easy to find. You still look for them, but gone are hours of soulless driving.

It...was....dare I say? Kinda fun

When it comes to "shooting rocks is suck", my opinion isn't a minority view.

Watch out, they're going to ask for data and stats in order to back what you just said. No polls though, because obviously polls don't reflect ALL Elite playerbase opinions and will make your statement null anyway.

For the first time since Horizons, I saw three metallic meteorites' white spots on my scanner at the same time! Looks like the density has been upped a bit... G5 elements are still few and far between, but I'm not complaining... I collected over 300 assorted materials yesterday. That's about 80 per hour while driving across a massive crater... It was pretty fun not having to scour for hours. Just play opportunistically..

Can I just say that there are some things in this life that absolutely are, by any reasonable measure, grind. Exhibit A: Shooting rocks, and trying to pick up all the pieces, one by one. It's not fun. It's not engaging game play. It's not bad. It's AWFUL.

It even comes with genuine feelings of nausea and motion sickness for many people from the lurching of the rover. How is that for fun.

I get the motion sickness.

However, the performance of the game has improved in 3.0. The effect is much less now. If I stick to close to 1 G planets, I'm ok.

The thing I find most disappointing about Engineers is....it's not "opt out". Even NPC ships that are engineered can blow a nonengineered ship out of space. Repeatedly. At least, that's my experience with engineers. I don't want to participate, but if I don't...then I can't play. And I can't play because the NPC ships are so much better than mine now.

Choice is never a bad thing, and when it's taken away..well, that IS a bad thing.

The problem with elite is it is not woefully stimulating, most of the time. Many people "Grind" to get to the "fun" part, but they complete miss the fact that the "Grind" activities IS the "fun" part. AKA the main content of the game.
