I cant see the problem with that.
oh wait, yes I can.
It means less easy targets roaming about.
If the PvP crowd wanted true competitive Pvp they would like the idea.
As the kind of player who would prefer to be a gun for hire, convoy escort and bounty hunter. I can see huge fundamental issues with this. What the post is proposing is essentially is split between the community (a community that is likely never to reach the heights that will make every star system fully loaded with players) purely because a certain group of players have had an unpleasant experience in the first week.
If the playerbase gets split in such a way that the most vocal complainants on the PVE side want, there will be no real reason for people to team up on PvE side, aside frorm having someone to admire the view with or occasionally team up to take on an AI anaconda. All of this is entirely plausible in group mode. Meanwhile on the PvP side there will be few people in real need of protection, and thus little social interaction if we're just going to populate it with predators and the few people who can be bothered to hang around to bounty hunt.
It's not nice being shot down. That I understand, and I would be just as aggravated at being shot down by a player as by an AI, but granted a player is more intelligent and harder to beat. So if I'm doing a run that involves a lot of credits and might financially break me if I get destoyed, I seriously consider going private group or solo in the short term. But generally I would *much* prefer and fully intend to get
social to find people willing to play escort like myself, and when I'm trading don't get caught alone in a dangerous system with my pants down. The multiplayer aspect of the game should be a boon for everyone and just throwing your dummy out of the pram because you were targeted doesn't bring anything positive to the game. It's one week in, there's plenty of time to motivate and form in game practical solutions to piracy and their more unpleasant brethren - the space murders. In time wings will come into the game, and real multiplayer coordination should be plausible. When that time comes, you need someone to protect your ship, look me or someone like me up. I'll be happy to arrange a fee in cargo if you're anywhere reasonably close. As players we have a choice when faced with adversity - to either slink off and make a smaller sandbox, or stand up and enlist the help of the larger community to bring balance to the situation. We have a game here with enough scope to make that possible and it would be a crying shame if a bunch of players let a handful of negative experiences take their contribution away from that.
In short - Wolves need sheep to feed on, sheep need sheperds to protect them, shepherds need sheep to make a living. Take one of those away and the community won't flourish but will instead stagnate.
