Please dont nerf the AI anymore.

Corrected post to avoid confusion about my opinion

FD have plans on stopping the AI from targeting sub modules.
And they are making the AI spawn more based on rank rather than the BGS simulation

Please FD , I am fine with stoping the low ranks from not targeting sub modules, but the high ranks should target the sub modules all the time !

The rule of AI should be : If the player does it , so can the AI.

A while back I remeber being told that elite ranked NPCs would use FA/OFF but I guess such improvement and game feature is going to be removed?

The low ranks can be as dumb as you want , but the high ranks need to be hard... the elites need to be borderline impossible... (they are the elite afterall)
You can nerf the low ranks , thats fine... but buff the high ranks , or at least just the elites...

i for one quite enjoy when an AI shoots out my PD because my shields are offline for the 5th time on my FAS.

altho i also have to note i kinda miss fighting a wing of 5 assault ships on my own :p
 
I dont play the game that way.
For me NPC and AI are the same , and I dont attack players if they are not hostile to me , or part of power I dont like.

But I fly mostly in alliance space I only see friends there.

We have to meet one of these days. But on topic though, I agree, AI should be demanding.
I believe they nerfed it so novice players don't get interdicted by anaconda elites and such.

Yes thats true.
But they want to remove sub module targeting on all AIs... to me thats not just a nerf but a full on feature removal
 
Game is going back to the infantile casuals. I guess people will go back to hunting other players again now that they'll be bored and need something to use their instagib engineer weapons on.
 
Removing all sub targeting seems a bit rash. Perhaps they're stepping thing back to try the core new AI without any special attacks, and go from there. I think sub targeting should be a lot like mods or enhanced flight, as you go up the rank ladder with AIs, you should see more and more. A harmless or maybe even competent AI shouldn't be great at that, they should just do straight attacks. An Elite, he should know exactly how best to hit you hard.
 
Clearly FD are struggling to balance the Ai for EVERYONE with a global difficulty. Can anyone explain to me why it would be no good having a difficulty slider that also affects rewards and BGS influence? Surely that would keep as many people as possible happy?

person A want to kill an Elite Anaconda in their starter sidey? ok they set difficulty to 10% and get only 10% of the reward and only 10% BGS influence. So they would have to play 10 times as much as someone playing at 100% to accomplish the same goal.

Person B want the Ai to be hard as hell so ups difficulty to 200%, Ai is twice as hard to kill uses more advanced combat techniques and rewards the player accordingly.

With every possible combination betwix those extremes!
 
The only thing I don't klike is elite npc having impossible turning rates. Like anaconda rearing you when you're in an FDL with full FAoff, turning and twisting your joystick to keep up with that.
Heck, I can't do it in my A rated conda! But maybe it's because I am not good enough. Must post video of that.

That sucks if they nerfed it hard.

So on a scale, 1 being pre 2.1 and 10 being 2.1 Beta murder demons, how is it?

I really liked the AI.
 
I honestly can't recognice that a NPC killed a subtarget on my ship in 2.1 but I not often let my shield drop.

The only Thing that happens a lot is..thermal attack and shield cell heat heat heat something Cargo hatch borken and I lost all Cargo.

Not sure if they shoot my Cargo hatch but since it was always after my heat climbed to 150% I concluded the Cargo Hatch is made out of ICE and not metal and simple always melts at a temperature of 150%
That Cargo hatch Thing is very anyoing. I have to pay a lot more Attention to not go over the 150% than anything else during battles just to not loss cargo.
Is there a engineer Cargo hatch upgrade? That would be a killer upgrade to die for!

As now, Elite rank aren't hard: they are just boring and unfun.

What is coming isn't a nerf: it's an improvment for the player and the game itself.
 
Can somebody provide the link to the proposed subtarget changes?

The only changes in the patch notes I can find about sub targeting changes is one about player turrets to register sub targetting as intentionally targeting a ship for hostility/bounty purposes:

- Correct the Target Entity checks when weapons hit their target to correctly account for subtargeting being used with Target-Only mode turrets, these will now cause hostility correctly when hitting the ship whose module you've targeted, but will correctly disregard hostility when stray shots clip other ships as before

What nerfs are you talking about? They fixed bugs, decreased the spawn rates of high ranked NPC'S, and removed mods on NPC's ranked Master and lower.

They fixed the impossible pitch rates, which is awesome. No more type 9's being able to consistently hit an FAS with rail guns.

Subtargetting is a small thing to worry about when the 2.1.03 AI has been thoroughly gutted. "Master" AI is basically 2.0 AI that shoots back. Harmless dies is 2 hits from my Diamondback Scout.

I have removed my modded Military Bulkheads and HRPs from my DBS because they are overkill. Though I will probably stop flying small ships now because the ENG distributor on them is TERRIBLE again. Actually I will probably just stop playing altogether because there is no challenge anymore. So I guess the rest of this post is pointless.

I just made 140K in CR in about 2 min of playing vs harmless NPCs. /uninstall
