Please fix Powerplay urgently to counter 5C action.

And currently the worst problem in Powerplay at all, because we've got organized groups that systematically target other powers which couldn't fight other way. You can't basically defend yourself from 5C (or it is extremly difficult to do so). Therefore we need urgently fixes, well, to be honest we need them from two years, but it's sad to say that our community (the powerplayers) is probably the very last in line as a priority for FDev, the only fix released in two years (the votes systems as it is right now) made things far worse.

Basically, by taking the modules and fifth-column (5C) stuff out of the equation will mitigate a lot of the Open/Solo issues.

Personally I'd really love Solo PP to have more aware, and aggressive AI so when I'm ferrying docs and contracts for Li Yong-Rui and Sirius Corp to prep a system it gets a bit more risky. But that's another debate for another day I think

I have been told by many people that they want to be able to attack the people that are disrupting their objectives, both in PP and in the BGS. They don't have good rebuttals to:
  • The BGS plays across all platforms but gameplay does not, therefore you cannot directly resolve those actions by killing the other player
  • If you are in a completely different timezone than the opposition and their play time, then you cannot fight because they are not there
  • For PowerPlay, and to a lesser extent, the BGS, you as an individual, can only safeguard one place at a time and cannot see where they are if they are not in your sensor window; if they go elsewhere, your activity does nothing to stop them
  • Peer to Peer Instancing doesn't guarantee an encounter even if they are present in the same system, and lack of normalization in internet connectivity doesn't guarantee the instance stays if you get one
This thread, on the other hand, addresses legitimate problems, and offers legitimate solutions.

Not wanting to open the 'Solo v PVP' wormcan here, but why does nobody seem to get the points Chrystoph made above? Been away a while, but have people just been echo-chambering the mantra "Powerplay is being ruined by Solo players" over and over until it's become a kind of unthinking dogma that nobody questions any more?

The fact is, it has been ignored since the problem is well known at least from 2016.

This is LACK OF COMMUNICATION, there should be a DevDiary at least about fixes, showing players what is being worked on, what is NOT being worked on, and what will be and in which future update it's forseen to be delivered.

I dunno, but sometimes it seems the real problem at the root of all is just real communication with the community.

Streams which ends up in just one or two episodes, lack of tech data output from the office to keep the hype, and most of, ignoring what the real problems are having a lot of features which are just released and then totally forgotten....
 
Couldn’t agree more with the OP. Mahon, Torval, Delaine and Li Yong Rui have all suffered considerably with 5C to large detriment. Aisling, Patreus, Hudson, Winters, Antal and ALD also have been forceed to work hard to avoid 5C damage. Make some changes to make it a fair game please.
 
I couldn't agree more, and any sane person can only think the same and come to the same conclusions.
I'm all for espionage, sabotage, covert ops, infiltration, but 5C is not the case, Elite does not include anything to do that properly. What 5C is all about is abuse of some game mechanics that needs to be fixed.

Seriously.. how hard can it be to implement this? Is PP that much of spaghetti code?
