Please for the love of Space fix Exobiology draw distances.

Having exobiology life suddenly pop in at 100m (or just over 150m) really really sucks.

Or make it so the SRV has a exobio ping. Or the ship.

If your not going to fix the absolutely garbage draw distance, give the player a tool in game to over come it.

This is absolutely silly that these tiny plants and stuff have such a low draw distance.

You are underestimating distances. If you travel 50 m/s in your ship; that is 180 km/h or 111 miles/h. You dont see that much detail

Yes, it could improve. Perhaps we can get an option slider. This would be really taxing on older gfx cards

Much more annoying to me is the fact that meteorites and outcrops are not drawn until they are less than 101m away - you can lock on them and see them on the scanner further away (250m ? ) but they just suddenly pop into existence at 100m. I can't find anywhere to increase this distance ("model draw distance" at maximum doesn't do it).

Conversely, I find that plants do get drawn much further than 150m - so much so that I find it easiest to find bios by flying along at just over 100m altitude - easy to spot stuff.

Maybe check in your graphics options that this slider is fully across (this is just a guess):

My guess would be LOD and draw distance settings. Check any entries that refer to such category. Higher LOD and draw distance is usually a noticeable tax on performance. I guess trying legacy won't help since it doesn't have exobio?

That's odd. I have almost all settings on the lowest possible setting to accomodate the lack of power of my system - it shouldn't be able to run Odyssey, but it does. But, especially with night vision on, even the Tussocks pop out from far away. But that could possibly be because I don't travel at high speeds - my SRV rarely exeeds 10m/s. And if I check from the ship, I usually go about 20m/s at an altitude of about 10-20m. And, especially on the SRV, it often helps to have the comp scanner active, as this sometimes even reacts when you see little more than a bunch of pixels.

I can testify that the drawing distance of rocks is sometimes a bit impractical. When I circumnavigated a planet, a jump could carry my SRV up and over 200 meters in altitude. After gliding in the air for a while, I choose a landing position in the middle of a rocky area so as not to hit a rock. Then, when the vector down is already pretty hard, at 100 m I notice that a rock appears in the middle of the landing spot I chose as if out of nowhere. Certain collision and major damage.

I can live with this though, as the Vodel suspension is awesome and has saved me way more times than those invisible rocks have almost blown me up.

Yeah, not sure on the draw distance of bio being so short as well, I tend to also fly along usually around 100m up and nearly 100ms to spot bio on the ground, not sure it would be possible if the draw distance was so short. But it should be easy to check. Land next to or just in front of a plant so you can see it, a downward looking view would be good, then just fly straight up until it disappears, that height is your draw distance.

My LOD and Model Draw Distances are maxed. It's still garbage.
i7-10700k; GTX 3060ti

I'm not even asking for the world that all exo's be drawn at once; but if i have to travel 800m for the next 'genetically diverse sample' of a thing, then that particular bio should have a draw distance of 800m. If i have to travel 500m to get to the next 'genetically diverse' sample, then that bio should have a draw distance of 500m.

Actually I think, that bigger ones like osseus and electricaes render at this distance.
It is more about time which you need to render it, thanks to this I usually don't fly faster than 30m/s.

I wonder why we have different experiences on this - must be some arcane "thingie" I suppose.

For ref my pc is an i7-6700k @4GHz (built it years ago for flight sims) with 32GB DDR 4 - GFX is a RTX3070ti driving a 4k monitor but scaled to 2560x1440 in the game.

I was out hunting some salad in a nearby system and found some Fonticulua, they seem to draw at about 500m at least.
In the dark with night vision in my Scarab, I should mention.
On the bright side, I barely could discern a rock 50m in front of me... Was an icy planet.
