PLEASE give us more freedom with tracked water rides: A visual guide.

Hi,
I am loving what you have done with Planet Coaster 2, however I was shocked after seeing the water-forward promotion and branding that the tracked water rides like log flume, rapids ride, water coasters etc. had been copied and pasted from their LIMITED iterations in the first game with no development. I am SO excited at the FREEDOM this game is giving us, but the water rides just block so much freedom that could be possible.

Firstly, there is absolutely no freedom in the angle in drops on water rides. Water rides in real life have a variety of angles...

Here is a visual of what we need... The examples I am giving use a log flume, but should be applied to all water rides.

Next, there is no freedom in the size of the downward curve at the start of the drops... we need options, preferably a coaster builder type situation where we can shape the profile of these drops.

Next, we need to be able to have freedom to shape the pullouts into the water troughs/runouts, this is VERY applicable to the water coasters as well. At the moment if we want to have a TALL drop, we still have to build the TINY, prebuilt pull out element into a splash pool, when it needs a larger more gradual pull out. Ideally, it would be great if we could have a coaster builder type system to profile drops that actually lead into runouts with a splash animation, but at least giving us a large variety of prebuilt options would suffice.

Next, on the log flume and wide log flume, we have this arbitrary predrop lift that, while it would be good to have the option as an element, just does NOT happen all the time in real life, especially on a drop that comes straight out of a lift hill.

Next, the rapids sections of the rapids rides look like cartoon bubble baths... can we have rapids sections with actual realistically shaped rapids?

I acknowledge you've added 2 rapids water effects, and they are great, but they require a lot of work to make look good.
IDEALLY, it would be wonderful if we could have a system where we place the logs/barriers in the trough, and a rapids effect appears where you place them, with the rafts reacting to the rapids, but having multiple shapable element options that have premade realistic rapids would be fine.

I know you guys are putting SO much work into this game, and the game is turning out to be SO GREAT, but could be so much more rounded with attention to tracked water rides.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks for reading!

Just a few more images to visualise the limitations set on the tracked water rides...

This is an example of how limited the water coaster is when it comes to the pull out into the troughs:

^This is way too tight for a hill of this size.

As you can see, you can't make a larger and longer curve because of these arbitrary, limited pieces.

Also, as another poster said, 99% of rapids stations are round, not straight:

While the previous problems mentioned are more of a priority in my opinion, it would be so fantastic if we could have these too!

The Outamax water roller coaster is a long-awaited attraction. But the way it is currently in the game, I won't use it.

You can see in the game that the models have more realistic details, but have such incomprehensible limitations elsewhere.

Consistent, good implementation and changes are what I want most. I hope there won't be another answer saying "that can't be changed anymore". but you can if you really want to. It doesn't have to be immediately, it can also take time.

I don't want us to end up with great attractions that can't be used because they don't fit into the rest of the picture and destroy the immersion like in Planet Coaster 1.

Thank you for mention the round station! If it gets figured out, maybe we can get it for the log flumes as well.

And please change the water to the planco1 water animation. It was looking way better! :)

I agree on all the suggested improvements for water rides. These improvements are things I also wanted for Planco 1 that were never implemented.

To add to the round stations suggestion: round stations also exist for log flumes. See Coal Cracker at Hersheypark.

I'm sorry, but the water texture used on these rides has to be one of the ugliest, low-budget excuses for a texture I've ever seen, and certainly not worthy of a Planet game. They are muddy, terribly animated, and they aren't even seamless from piece to piece - the seams stand out like a sore thumb. Combined with the poor physics (boats no longer 'bob' in the current, they float along in a straight line...) and the baby splash effects, as they are water rides are worthless parts of the game as I will NEVER use them in their current configuration...

Why on earth did Frontier regress from what we had in PC1 to this? It doesn't make sense. Did all the old textures crumble away to dust since they were last used???

Here are some more pictures for inspiration and to show that the water rides are very limited... and to bump the thread because I'm worried that this will be overlooked and not prioritized lol.

100% agreement!

While testing update 2, I noticed that the logflume is following the middle line in the channel (and it's doing that while keeping the bad alingment).

Water rides are the most underrepresented rides and the few ones they provided aren't made with love.

(A theory for water rides in PC2:
A: Next month is release day of PC2... Has anybody cared about water rides? B: No, but I got something in my rubbish bin. Let's use this... Hopefully, nobody will notice it. C: We will provide as many issues, nobody will notice it! A: Well, let's do so...)

I never use the water rides because they're just too limited and unrealistic, and the water texture is clearly not finished. It feels like a placeholder, something they quickly put in for proof of concept and that they planned to do properly later. Perhaps then there wasn't enough time to before the release deadline. I'm hoping, and have a good feeling really, that they'll do a "water rides" update in the future, where they make them less limited and fix the water texture. I can't see why they wouldn't, as they're overhauling so many other aspects of the game. Many more people are starting to come back to the game, reviews are getting more positive, player numbers increasing, the future is bright if they keep improving and before we know it we'll have an incredible game and they'll be getting their return of investment from all the DLC sales we'll be rushing to buy.

The rest of the water in the game is absolutely stunning, so it seems odd and out of place that the water in water rides, simply because it's in a trough, should be a bizarre repeating flat 2D texture. It's definitely a placeholder.

i wonder if this has already been talked about in the dev team. this request was already there with planet coaster 1 however nobody seemed to care to even look into it :( the water coasters are basically useless for any player who actually wants to recreate RL rides or just wants to build realistically.
