Most people who use STEAM don't realise that they don't actually own the games they bought.

Neither do you own the music you buy from itunes but still millions do it :( I for one dont ..

I agree with you though.....Nothing like a big box and game to make you feel your the owner and you have a product you have bought :)

Or in David Brabens case.....A box to small with shed loads crammed in to make you feel even better :D

I think what they were getting at Synchromesh is if you buy a CD you have it in your posession the artist won't knock on your door to take it away but on Steam (as happened recently in Aust) they can take a purchase away, sure they will refund you but they can still remove it because they can control that.

Oh i was in agreement...I just mentioned its the same for Itunes and music....
If i want the music or games i would also buy the physical item...

what i meant was its because millions of people do ...Steam and such like get away with it ;)

I'm also fine with Steam, I have a huge pile of disks (games/music/movies), I prefer them to stay on the shelf. I prefer to Steam than have to leave a game in the CD tray. No CD required for play, then I'm fine with either.

WRONG!!

If Steam go bankrupt, what about my games=?
Steam has stated on their forums "we would patch the games to not require steam to run anymore so you could download them and back them up"

Hmmm...patching a game to work without steam doesnt help in my opinion....you only have it as long as its still installed on your machine....Buy a new pc and your screwed so its not like you have it on disk

Besides running a business myself i do know the golden rule is...keep going till the last day...tell no one....especially staff if you can get away with it...

It would be more than likely you wake up log in and its gone !!!
Site ...servers and all :(

Not that its ever likely to happen any time soon though...

100% agree Capn Tucker
There is hope for Diablo 3, i heard rumors that the coming PS3 version can be played offline and even allows co op multiplayer on one machine.

Too bad they couldn't do that for the PC version. I loved D1 and D2; played them for years. I had really been looking forward to D3 until I heard about the always on requirement.
So I play Torchlight 2 instead. Made by the original Diablo developers, and 100% DRM free.. :)

I don't think you quite understand the situation of declaring thyself bankrupt.

I can count the number of business'es who care about their customers *after* they've gone into receivership on one hand....

...actually, I can count them on *no* hands.

Protip: Forums aren't a known source of undeniable truth.

If you know 3 people you can play it with, I highly recommend Dungeonland. A few of us in the office have been having a great time with it and it only costs £8. It's similar to games like Torchlight and Diablo, but with a sense of humour and one player that gets to control the dungeon. It's one of the most fun games I've played in a while, but it really has to be played multiplayer.

Torchlight 2 is awesome the Schaefer's paid attention to there fans unlike Blizzard who just wanted to gouge cash with its RMAH

I'd like to hear from FD how they are going to deliver a DRM free game to the thousands of backers they promised on the front page of their Kickstarter. And reiterated multiple times.
