Please remove the display of CQC rank from my panel

CQC was a good idea in theory and some CMDRs seem to enjoy it. Show the rank if you have played it, otherwise don't.

IT is, actually, fun. There is no "god mode" engineered player ship - you have nearly as much of a chance with the initial ship offerings as the highest rank locked offering - thus, it's about as even as PvP gets, and thus, is mainly skill dependant. Something PvP in this game cries out for.

Also, being in maps with structures, asteroids - you know, cover, and stuff to dodge... It's actually FUN!.

The error, imho, was not making it part of the main game. If I could log in whilst doing a 420k LS Supercruise, I would...

Couple that with in-game rewards (paintjobs, decals, engineer mods etc), as well as actual CQC Arena locations players can visit and stations we can dock at (perhaps a very flamboyant looking station with lots of spot lights and what not) and suddenly CQC becomes much more interesting.

Yup - totally agreed. The concept is great, like so many of FD's ideas, it's just poorly implemented in a way that seems like a minimal viable product, and then never really touched again.

Being chased around the map with my shields down and hull at 20%, twisting and turning through tunnels in a desperate attempt to buy time to get my shields up, that's some of the best game time I've ever had.

People are using CQC, at least when I log on. Didn't things go wrong when everyone started arguing over using custom setups VR/HOTAS etc etc, it then became clear certain cmdrs would have an unfair advantage? There was a massive topic, the devs cancelled the competition ($100,000 top prize) Said they would revisit it at some point, never came back to it. Pretty sure the CqC permit locked system is still in the Bubble.

This is the problem with CQC and part of the problem with Open PVP, mouse users have easy mode, VR users can have much better situational awareness. You can't balance that in ongoing competitions unless everyone has the same equipment. THey probably wanted to turn it into an E-Sport, there was quite a lot of excitement before they cancelled it.

I can relate to close quarter combat scenarios. One of my most intense gaming sessions ever, was in Unreal Tournament. Usually the maps contains hills, trees, buildings, structures, etc. This map was 200x200x200 meters. And nothing else. Just space. And death. Much death. Only time where I was sweating all over after the session.

Isn't there a CQC locked system in ED, a system you only have access to after a certain CQC rank is achieved? Adding CQC assets in the main game is a good idea, joining and finding a CQC game sounds to be a bother, unless you coordinate in a group. And even then...

Since CQC is optional, but still spills a little bit over to ED, e.g. the CQC permit locked system, the display of the rank should also be optional.

That's bold. I like it. Just remove them all. They are just a meaningless statistic anyway. [3...2...1]

I'm fine with them all being optional, or them all being removed. My personal arbitrary goal for Elite Explorer is 100,000 unique systems visited.

Either way, it would only make sense if I could get Elite CQC in a Cobra Mk. IV... ;)

Frontier aren't going to remove it. Some have presumably gotten the Elite CQC rank and are proud of it.

Said it before so hell why not say it again and Im sure once this thread is gone another will pop up asking for the same thing, so...

Yeah remove it has no place alongside the main game ranks, unless it was in the main game then sure have it but as is, it should be hidden in the stats panel somwhere, saying that I wouldnt mind if all off them went that way too.

I think they figured it had something like DOTA potential. Lots of fighters, just a huge number of weapon options. Lots of strats. E-sports 101. Given most of those, from a competition level use provided hardware for actual competitions, I have no idea why people were panicking. You can practice on anything; but if the actual competition had a set choice and dedicated hardware; then most people would be training using the same input.

Most big comps have very structured kit and the games are run on dedicated hardware for that specific comp. So you can train using VR, but it's pointless if that's not going to be at any staged event. This is competition 101. The kit is provided by the people running the competition and everyone uses the same thing.

Given what CQC is; I'd expect they would have settled on KB+M. Like I said, anyone involved in that sort of thing, automatically will train on the same HID used during the comp. Frontier probably just needed to make sure the terms were defined well.

As usual, people complained about crap that wasn't relevant because assumption trumps logic every time. This happens a lot on the forums, I'm surprised you haven't noticed. ;)
