Please remove the display of CQC rank from my panel

I can see that for some people with no interest in CQC but who want to see all their rankings as Elite, the CQC ranking makes thing untidy. Particularly awkward for people with a tidiness compulsion. But I don't really think it does any harm. Perhaps CQC will be better integrated into the main game in future.

This feature isn't part of the main game. It is a rank that almost no one cares about. I have no interest in playing this external game mode. Please at least create an option to remove the display of my CQC rank. I have never once played CQC, and I have no interest whatsoever.

Why, don't you like being reminded of your Helplessness? :D

People are using CQC, at least when I log on. Didn't things go wrong when everyone started arguing over using custom setups VR/HOTAS etc etc, it then became clear certain cmdrs would have an unfair advantage? There was a massive topic, the devs cancelled the competition ($100,000 top prize) Said they would revisit it at some point, never came back to it. Pretty sure the CqC permit locked system is still in the Bubble.

This is the problem with CQC and part of the problem with Open PVP, mouse users have easy mode, VR users can have much better situational awareness. You can't balance that in ongoing competitions unless everyone has the same equipment. THey probably wanted to turn it into an E-Sport, there was quite a lot of excitement before they cancelled it.

I don't think this matters. If you want to be the best, you have to adapt. I was a much better wow player than many others because of my amazing interface customization and control bindings. That is as much a skill of the game as anything else, imo.

Not part of the main game, has no business being displayed in the main game.

Agreed.

I really wish FDev had had the ability to make CQC good, so all the PvP'ers would have somewhere safe to go and get their fix of flying around killing random players.

Sure thing, we all adapt, am a HOTAS and pedals users, I have no issues going up against a kb/m player, even though they are essentially in FP shooter mode with barely any skill required. My point was that is does matter in the context of pushing Arena to be a competition for real money ($100,000 top prize) that seemed to be the original plan, at least to drum up interest in the whole thing. It wouldn't work unless everyone used the same equipment, as mentioned, the arguments raged for a while, then the whole idea was cancelled.

The topic used to be pinned at the top of this forum.

Couple that with in-game rewards (paintjobs, decals, engineer mods etc), as well as actual CQC Arena locations players can visit and stations we can dock at (perhaps a very flamboyant looking station with lots of spot lights and what not) and suddenly CQC becomes much more interesting.

this is actually a good suggestion, albeit not new. however, i can see there are some technical problems: cqc is a standalone program, flight and targeting models are different from main game. moving over the assets should be easy (has already been done), but merging the game code into the main body could be a major undertaking. a quick and dirty solution would be keeping them as separate programs via a transparent launcher, but that would introduce very long load screens, and maybe even bump the memory footprint quite a bit. not nice, and definitely not an option for "a quick arena whilst doing 420k ls supercruise". it would be same as now, just with an embelished launcher. worth the hassle?

Other players do enjoy Arena & as such, probably appreciate having the rank showing alongside the others...oh, but they're not you, are they? 'Solid argument right there!

I do see your point, though - certainly worthy of its own thread - 'must be absolutely game-breaking for you all! OCD, by any chance? [haha]

I say, remove those silly Exploration and Trade ranks.
Keep Combat and CQC ranks, they at least indicate player made some effort to get there, unlike the two above mentioned.

And the truth OP is you are Helpless in CQC. That's why you have it on your panel. Why you get angry about it?
There is a way to change it of course - play CQC :) We play CQC for hours every day, so it's far from being dead and many people care about it.

It wouldn't be an easy undertaking to implement CQC into the main game but that's Frontier's problem should they decide to do it; born from their own mistake.

If they'd done it properly the first time around we'd likely be having unofficial CQC tournaments along the lines of Bucky Ball et al, and additionally; Frontier could, by now, be looking at creating CQC tournaments like the one they proposed a few years ago. Additionally; they could have implemented CQC Seasons with Seasons offering unique content for that Season (think: Diablo III Seasons) or even Destiny 2's Faction Rallies (week-long events that give unique rewards for those taking part).

fair enough. but whose fault it is has no bearing on the practical issue. frontier isn't going to hire a new team dedicated for this task. do we really want them to spend valuable resources and time on this issue?

an option to show/ hide the irrelevant CQC rank display would be very welcome!

Someone (or some people) in FD have got an emotional investment in CQC. ie: It was their choice to go ahead with it. It was their choice to invest time and effort into a stand alone fighter combat game, instead of using that effort within the core game (eg: actually adding fighter tours of duty as missions/CGs in the core game to offer viable combat scenarios and gameplay)...

I therefore suspect removing the CQC status from the core game would risk admitting how poorly that choice has worked out. So I doubt it will happen... I suspect it will therefore join a number of other questionable development choices basically collecting dust (for most CMDRs).

Oh goody! Another thing to ask for that I'll probably never get!

Oh well.

I don't do PvP, so I'd only ever have taken an interest in CQC if there were bots.

Somebody above mentioned Unreal Tournament? I can remember Unreal admitting at one point that about half the people who played the game only ever played against bots. Mind you, that was back in the days when an internet connection basically consisted of a runner with a message in a cleft stick.

What's great about CQC is it's 100% PvP. Let it be. The main game has solo and PG.

We already have PvE Combat rank for PvE combat, we don't need another.
