How does one even manage to involuntarily die by the same cmdr over and over again? Really, how?

Skillz, mad space bounty hunter skillz.

"Harassment" is defined as behavior that is both repeated and unwanted.

Like when someone repeatedly takes your money during a game of monopoly? That qualifies as harrassment? I think your definition needs some work. :p

Darn, gimme his number, I want to become his pupil! :)

And when a NPC repeatedly chases you from system to system and it is an unwanted pursuit, what then? These threads are ridiculous and childish, beyond childish.

Well harassment requires intent, which NPCs lack.

The point of that part of the EULA is to give FD the right to ban people for activities such as repeated stream-sniping and other externally-guided and focused attacks on players. People blockading and attacking people spontaneously within the game doesn't really fall under the terms of the EULA, at least as intended. It's about preventing players who have some external grudge (disliking somebody's forum posts/YouTube channel/disliking somebody in real life, etc) and expressing it through targeted harassment within the game.

The only common occurrence that could perhaps be considered slightly shady are kill-lists like those adopted by many PvP groups, but if those groups can show that those kill-lists are created in a response to in-game activities (targeting a member of Aisling's Angels for constantly collecting the scalps of SDC player-attackers, for example) then I can't see that it would be considered a breach of the terms. As I say, it's clearly included in the EULA to give FD the ability to curtail the use of ED as an outlet for extra-gameworld grievances.

I just think it's a silly thread... what is it supposed to accomplish? we've been discussing combat logging for nearly 2 years! He's trying to start a debate on the subject or create more polymic? or maybe OP got a warning from frontier for combat logging and he's trying to educate us?

also the rules are on the frontpage....

It's supposed to encourage players to use in game means to fight harassment in Elite. We're all here to have fun, right?

I have never combat logged in this game, not even by accidentally losing my internet connection.

And for the record, the T&C you linked are related to the forums, not the game we all play mate. Which indicates to me you didn't even read them :p

On topic, I think the fact that many of you are discussing a very specific scenarios and whether they are should be considered harassment/bullying or not. And different people have different opinions. Which only supports my point - it's not up to you to decide. It's up to FDEV.

BLAH BLAH BLAH. The NPCs that track me down and "try" to steal from or kill me have intent.

Actually, such terms are usually in UELA's/TOs's to prevent real harassment. RL threats/insults, sexual inapproriate behavior etc. Most MMOs will have to deal with this at some point as there will always be some nuts in every community. Legal department at FD probably doesnt give the slightest crap about a T6 being shot at a CG by some dude for the third time.

How? They're not conscious...

...I know, that was my point - it's not there to deal with people repeatedly killing people at CGs, it's to prevent people from bringing grudges and non-game-related grievances (racism/sexism/etc) into the game.

I've seen family members almost come to blows after someone gets laughed at and harassed for landing on Park Place in the late game.

Monopoly competition is no joke.

I am quite sure most here dont consider 'BLAH BLAH BLAH' to be an argument.

We could argue about it...

What's the point of this exercise, rootsrat ?
And why now, something out of the ordinary happened ?
You quote EULA parts that are well known and discussed plenty.
So why the reminder ?
Surely we're not short of threads treading the same old trodden path of griefing vs. PvP, solo vs. open etc.
I don't get it, all you added is just more white noise.

I just posted almost exactly what Sleutelbos did, albeit in a lengthier way. I'm guessing you didn't bother reading my post?

Sorry I like his profile pic better than yours... :p Seriously though, Anything a NPC can do in game, a PC should have the same freedoms. -End thread. Good night.

Sorry, but he's right. If you log in, you're a target.

That's your purpose in the game, whether it's for the players or the NPC's, you are there to be attacked. The game is heavily combat oriented no matter what illusions you have painted for yourself.

Every entity in the ED universe is there to be shot at for various reasons.
You (and others) have missed the overriding point...

There is NO excuse for ANY behaviour that could be construed has harassment/bullying - no-one is saying ALL PvP behaviours are considered inherently harassment/bullying but as with real-life if you engage in inherently aggressive behaviours (verbal, textual, virtual, or physical) you could find yourself legitimately at the wrong end of harassment/bullying accusations. No-one can define precisely what such behaviours might entail, but habitually engaging in KOS behaviours would most likely go against you in the case of a complaint being reviewed. Such behaviours would be comparable to an individual in an office who does not single out a single person per se but habitually engages in intimidating behaviours, complaints against such people typically do not go favourably for the accused.

Can this thread just get merged with the hotel California thread as we had this discussion about the Eula already and got frontiers answer to it like a year ago?
