Please save your salt...

Mmmm coffee...

Oh oh! Today's top tip...

Do NOT, under any circumstances, try to use your washer jets while driving at 70mph in -5°c, when you only filled it with cheap screenwash.... :D
Mine basically sprayed ice on to my windscreen...

Luckily, the washer jets have an "idiot proof" mode, which means they too, freeze, rendering them useless.

ROFL
You've made my day!
Need to check out if my washer jets have this mode too. :D
+1

Britain, where we fine parents for taking children on holiday during school time but shut the schools for an inch of snow and expect the parents to deal with children somehow.

Personally, at the slightest bit of snow I leave my car behind and just walk everywhere because people in this country have no idea how to handle it. I watched a van shoot past me this morning at about 45mph and end up in the middle of a roundabout.

Anyway, I’m off to buy all the bread I can possibly carry, then head home to play in my python with my shiny new t1600. It doesn’t snow in space...

What's your problem with snow? It's winter, ergo there is snow on the street. :D
At least here in the Alps.
That's why we have snow tires and skid chains.

Washing your car is also a great idea. Up to -5 C it is actually possible if you use the hot wax spray ONLY. Other than that, one of two things will happen: a) You can't get into your car anymore without an ice pick, or b) you'll slip on the ice mirror on the floor that you've just created.

-7c when I got up for work and 4inches of snow. Sorted out the van, fuelled up and drove the 6 miles to site (took 20 minutes with fairly empty roads). Got to site and waited an hr for the permit to work, in the meantime it started snowing quite heavily but we cracked on and unloaded the gear from the vans. Two minutes after we’d unloaded they decided to shut site as the road out was almost impassable, so it was pack back up and go home. Return journey took an hr because of idiots driving at 5 miles per hr, which is bad enough but they’re often in the wrong gear meaning they kept stopping on upward slopes. I was not a happy bunny when I finally got home so I’m going to turn on the lappy and blow some .... up once the sweeny has finished.

I feel for you all. In Fort Lauderdale, it's a chilly 67 degrees (19 c) here. 2.5 more hours before my download is finished. May have to go get coffee before the download finishes. Or hot chocolate.

And for snow? I'm originally from Wisconsin. We used to walk to school in 4 feet of snow every day. Snow day? What was that? Just lift your legs up higher and you'll make it through just fine. Blizzard? Just pull that ski mask down and you'll be fine.

Schools didn't close unless the snow plows couldn't clear the roads....and they always cleared the roads. :p

Major update = things change = people can't cope with change = salt

People have the ability to adapt to new situations, but apparently it's easier to just complain. :p

Oh, I know. That was my point. Tis the season. 10/10 best pun

For a place that apparently* sees little need for central air conditioning in homes, Britain sure does seem to halt when the snow comes.

*Know a few good chaps from there. They all tell me as such.

Things are tough here in West London, my local Waitrose is running low on balsamic vinegar, and there's no quinoa.

Roflmao!

I decided to call it a day at lunchtime here in Kent, had enough of.being outside today.

Trying to decide whether to start converting my fleet to new g5, or do some bookwork, both fairly unappealing!

About 8-10 inches of snow up here in South Lanarkshire, more due this afternoon with high winds, it's gonna get even more messy!

Minnesotan myself. We take pride in the fact that the only month in the year where we haven’t had snow is July. Still miss the snowfall from my child hood. IMO it isn’t really winter in Minnesota if the snow hasn’t even reached the bottom of the windowsills yet.

Aaaand there it is......

The snow in Kent (UK) is the first proper snow I have seen in years. And that is only about 3-4 inches deep.
