OK easy peasy one this time -
Should ED have AI Co-Pilots when AI crew are introduced?
Let's keep it simple and say they can only fly the ship to stations and make hyperspace jumps to start with but there's room to increase their skills if we want that.
Voted yes for todays vote reasons are that I prefer the idea of a hired crew member doing the 'auto-pilot' than I do having a machine do it. I also like the ability to improve the crew members rating which could improve the time it takes to get from one place to another however, yes there has to be one, if your ship is interdicted and your not at the keyboard or have alt tabbed out for some reason your AI has to do the fighting too. Placing both your ship and it's cargo at great peril - in no way should these bots be as good as a human player and should also not be up to the standards of the normal AI - unless you had a combat trained pilot with you.
Lots of possibilities for gameplay with this idea Jex, far better than yesterdays!![]()
if its too much work i would not be demanding it as a priority
There's simply no difference between letting the AI fly your ship and....letting the AI fly your ship. How you can manage to make an argument seperating the two is what I don't get. You do realise your "crew" are nothing but the machine, right?
npcs are not the same as AI (in the game) as far as the game is concerned npcs are real people, whom we will pay a wage etc so there is a difference, even if you personally do not agree that they should be treated differently - which is another topic entirely (maybe a poll should ai be treated the same as npcs**)
** please dont, only joking.
Yes. Even more frustration and feeling of neglect, added to the fact that we have no NPC wings.2.3 have to bring NPC multicrew management. Limiting Multicrew to players only will lead to frustration and bad reception of this other important update.

No they don't.The AI is the same regardless - it's still AI and all the arguments in the AP thread against AP fit in right here as well.
people that don't want it can't put together a valid argument for not wanting it.
I was in an NPC Wing in the beta last night. I was in a Taipai fighter with a Battle conda off my wingtip. Worked brilliantly and multi-player will expand on that.Yes. Even more frustration and feeling of neglect, added to the fact that we have no NPC wings.
So people would like this, but not an autopilot which would be more or less functionally identical?
Despite my ability to get confused easily I do know the difference but it is about how the gameplay is presented to me the player. If you say I have an autopilot, I assume I will just be getting a module fitted to the ship, where's the room for improvement or fun? May as well just buy a docking computer - something I won't be doing anytime soon. Give me an actual crew, something I am allowed to think of as a sentient being and all of a sudden it becomes something I can invest time and effort in thus adding to the gameplay for me. Allowing this crew member to be killed further increases the value too if they have been with you a while. Plus the irony of you pointing out that they are different when you have essentially posted the same poll twice in two days but with a slight change was not lost on me at all.![]()
I expected a reply such as the one given from you as it was pretty clear after reading yesterdays and today's threads that you would make the point you have.
